I tried out the new version of LightUp. To be able to switch to a section during a walkthrough is really great! It helps the clients to understand the design and looks nice as well. [image: WLNA_lightUp_section.jpg]

I can only recommend Silo. Sure, it hasn't been updated in years, and yes, there's some long-standing bugs in there, but, really, whenever I open Silo, I go ahhhh. "Whenever I open Silo, I go ahhhh." Not a bad slogan. Copyrighted!

like I see it as a digital updating of the white foam-board block model for clients that just can't 'see' 3d in even the best hand or digital 2d drawings or 3d models... Ideal for people who can't 'model make' catering to people who can't 'visualise' in 3d... there are a lot of both... best of all, no scalpels required... and you can always print you own 'non conforming' additions, so it's more like lego on steroids... john

Judging from the last image you posted and the capture of your settings, I'd recommend changing your "Optics" settings. An fstop of 39.6 is fairly uncommon (most lens that aren't specialty top out around f22), and adjust your shutter speed to something more realistic. Shutter speed in your settings is set to 1/.02, which isn't something you'd ever see in the real world (again, Maxwell relies on realistic settings for its light calcs). Maybe start with 1/30 and go from there? It doesn't look like the file is getting errors, and your sky isn't quite "black" as you say. The image is just severely underexposed. Hope that helps! Also as a quick note, for interiors, Maxwell will render significantly cleaner and faster is the interior isn't completely sealed from the outside environment. Transparent materials don't contribute, so try to have one portion of the model open to the outside, perhaps, behind the camera or somewhere out of sight.

Quick test, 5 min render. One pass, HDRI+emitter inside. Added a bit of contrast and glow in PS. (The interior is unrealistically bright compared to the environment lighting - but just to show the effect.) [image: testwqsi6.jpg] btw. your image is missing the background in the rear windows

I have to agree Twan... Although the way it renders the stone, the depth of the texture is really great.
