my local reproduction shop Springfield Blue Print sends me .tiff files those can be dropped directly into SU.

although I find it quicker to import into Autocad and trace there, it's more fun in SU.

This mostly happens in the aforementioned scenario when I'm trying to pick the texture of a floor surface (not the section plane) while the camera is hovering above the section plane (which in turn is horizontally between the floor and the camera). It seems it all boils down to me having to stop being so awfully lazy and managing to make the few extra clicks to adjust the planes when needed, thanks for helping 😄

I don't know without seeing your components.

My components usually have several sides (why just one or two?)

Scaling can be a problem, fortunately I haven't had too many problems with this though.

actually i figured out that its just an incredibly strange problem with moire (sp?)

it depends entirely on the position of the camera as to where the odd stretching effect occurs. But for the moment i have the model hung up, i lost a bit of motivation on it for the time being. Ill get it back on my next day off, but right now its work all dang week.

I tend to just give client an avi, I have had problems with hypercosm on bigger models.

Te resize components like doors and windows, for example, you may need to use the Move Tool to avoid changing the frame size while changing the door or window size.

Just ideas.

now that i look back on my post i can see that it was a little hard to follow what i was asking but the advice that you offered is just what i was looking for. make component, copy component, make unique, modify, add scene/update. rinse and repeat. i followed the link to wink and might be able to incorporate that into my project but if not, the printouts from my SU tut will satisfy the client needs and that's all that matters(sometimes)

One way to do it, is to use a CAD program and you can enter 3D co-ords there. Otherwise sorry mate I'm not sure where else to go.

i surely think it is! doubling your RAM has to have some effect on your machine.

Pro cannot export to either of these formats - though you may find a format that can be further imported/exported in another application to fit your needs.

Sorry I didnt get back to you on the solid, but it worked but not the way I wanted it to. I think something like even a hatch of some sort would be ok, but I dont know how to do it.
