      Hi all
      I downloaded a component from the 3d warehouse
      how do I now insert/place it into sketchup
      i know i can insert directly into sketchup but i would like
      to modify the component first

        There are several way of this. If you have downloaded (and saved) it somewhere, locate the file (it is a simple skp file) and open it. Now you can edit the component (if it is a component at all - a straight download from the WH does not necessarily mean it is made into a component).

        If it is a component (or you make a component of it), you can see that it's in the component browser "In model" tab. If you open the secondary components window (in Win only afaik) by clicking on that little + sign somewhere in the top right corner, you can siply drag your component into any of the folders there for further use.

        You can also "import" any SU file with the File > Import > and choose the skp from the 3D models. Now whatever the file was before (component or not), SU will import it as a component.
