I'd also "vote" for this as the identification of the problem. Also note that this is a "model level" setting (like applied styles for instance) so when you receive a file from someone else who uses these settings, it will be "in the file", not in your "general SketchUp settings" (that would be the Preferences window, not the Model info window).

Shameless plug: theres a few things you could try to speed up your models here http://www.sketchucation.com/working-with-large-models-in-google-sketchup/ You'll need a separate login for the tutorials site, though. You can get that here: http://www.sketchucation.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true

Hi all, these things should be solved soon I hope. But yes, in general, the site account is totally different from the forum account so in order to see certain content, you need an account there as well as being logged in.

Ya, that's what I used to unfold the cone. It didn't do it in this simple model, but in the model I'm working on, the texture turns black after making it unique and the "texture" selection is unavailable from the right click menu.

Well, you say that the stamp tool is not an ideal solution - however all your description (what you want to achieve) is about how the stamp tool works and what it does. Is there really 4 metres difference in that building? As I can imagine, such a building wouldn't be placed on such a terrain with all the terrain built up / dug into around but the building itself would be somewhat on a sloping foundation. Note that you can always stamp a slanting face or even a collection of (joined) faces that are not coplanar - the only thing you cannot stamp is a face perpendicular to the terrain (i.e. basically vertical faces). See what I mean in attached: [image: 3Ywb_Stamp.jpg]

@solo said: I explode the text component and makes groups of the individual letters. Thanks Solo, that was the point I was not clear with.

This is the toolbar in question: [image: eXbW_Views.png] You can activate it (and many others) from the View menu > Toolbars. You can also get any of these "Standard" (top, front, right etc.) views from the Camera manu > Standard views. Those menu items do the same as the toolbar buttons except there is an extra menu item: "Bottom" (which you rarely use therefore they omitted it rom the toolbar to save space I guess).

@mitcorb said: You need to reply to his two questions at the end of his post. These ones you mean? @zeeshan said: how did you guys become so amazing at all this ? did you have some special training ? First, I don't think I am "amazing at all this" therefore I didn't reply on that. The other thing is; practise, practise, practise - and lurk all around the forums to find out how all the others are achieving results you like. I myself have never taken any training so I cannot speak for others.

Hey there folks, I am really interested in how I can incorporate the use of CAD in this case I have downloaded what was suggested above? Can anyone point me in a useful direction so I can learn / incorporate CAD into my work flow. I realise that CAD mastery requires a lot of time and expertise... That isn't really what I am looking for but how I can better work in 2D and to generate drawings that could be used as plans to improve my modelling. I think in this case I am looking backwards to get drawings of what I have now modelled. Here are some of the "drawings" I was able to create for my friends but any suggestions on cleaning them up? [image: Drawing2-ProposedSitePlan.jpg] [image: Drawing8-West-BackElevation.jpg] [image: Drawing7c-SouthSideCrossSectionStai.jpg] [image: DrawingDetail2-RoofConstruction.jpg] I would appreciate any constructive feedback... Hi Jean Thanks for the scene tip. I haven't used scenes yet, but it sounds like now is a good time to start. I found some advice over on the Podium forum too regarding sections, and I've just downloaded the zorro ruby, so hopefully that will sort out the sections issue. Thanks all.

Thanks to all who commented. That is so nice to be able to do this now. It's very frustrating without the grouping. Have a great day everyone.

Let us not forget that some add-ons require activation in Window, Preferences, Extensions and tick the checkbox if the new ruby requires it. mitcorb

Hi Hetauma, hi folks. If you see the texture of the wall through the glass portion of the component, it is because the face of the wall has not been cut. This may be due to a non vertical wall or a warped wall or the component has snapped to some other geometry that is in front of the wall. Just ideas.
