    • RE: Kitchen reno

      Hello
I'm relatively new to the forum, but I would like to offer some help. I wonder how you are going to use the window wall? It looks a little bare. I guess you want to keep that side free for traffic flow. Also, how much space do you have between the oven and the island? It looks a little cramped but that could be the perspective. What about a U-shaped island with the sink in the middle? It still leaves traffic flow through the space (leave space at either end too) but takes account of the requirements needed to work with the oven/sink. Curves also soften the space and are quite dynamic. How do you deal with the fan over the oven? Happy renovating!

    • RE: Increasing segment numbers in an arc

Thanks TIG and Jean. Gaieus, your job sounds like fun!

I have learned so much from this forum. It's a fantastic place where everyone is so willing to share their knowledge. Hopefully I can give a little back some day soon.

Thanks Remus and Gaieus for your quick responses. That's the answer I didn't want! But it's learning by doing and now I know for the future. Back to the drawing board so.

    • Increasing segment numbers in an arc

      Hello everyone

It's a long time since I was here last with a question, but I'm still very much a newbie.

I'm creating a curved front-panelled desk and I'm applying some classical moulding to it. I've finally figured out that I need to align to the segments to get a new surface plane on the curve. I would like to increase the segments of the arc to apply the moulding at the right intervals, but I can't seem to increase the segments in the entity info box. Any tips on how to work with this, or do I need to start from scratch?

Thank you in advance for your generous time.

    • RE: Camera Angles

      Hi Jean

Thanks for the scene tip. I haven't used scenes yet, but it sounds like now is a good time to start. I found some advice over on the Podium forum too regarding sections, and I've just downloaded the zorro ruby, so hopefully that will sort out the sections issue. Thanks all.

    • RE: Camera Angles

Thanks for your advice Chris. The process you outlined works well, and I have managed to get some better shots but it is still a challenge. I've been hiding elements to make things better too. Does the little guy always face north? I can't seem to change his orientation - he appears too quickly! Also, is there a keyboard shortcut for using the eyes - my Mac mouse sometimes sticks and I can't scroll backwards and zoom tends to loose the view, so then I have to start all over again. Pain!

    • Camera Angles

I'm quite new to Sketchup (about 2 months) and I'm finding it difficult to get a good camera angle for my interior shots. Perhaps I'm not doing it properly. I choose either 2 point perspective or 1 point depending on the view that I want and position the camera, change EL and FV. In small spaces, I can't seem to get the right angle - I'm either too close or too far away. I'm working with Podium also (free version for now) and find that my views can look a little distorted. I've used Sections and Hide to try to get the best angle but when using Sections I get a white render. Perhaps I should post this also in the Podium forum. Here is a sample of a project I'm working on; wips, so things will change. I managed a good view for the WC, but I just can't seem to get the right view for the shower room, nor a good wide view of the WC.

    • RE: Help with Arcs and Faces

Gaieus, thank you for your advice. I'll try the push pull (and use default styles) and see what I come up with. I'll post the results.

    • Help with Arcs and Faces

      Hi everyone

I'm new to SU. I've been using it for just over two weeks and have created various simple projects to work through the tutorials. I've found lots of help on this board, so thank you to all.

I am having problems with creating faces from arcs. I've searched through the forum and have been using Sandbox Contours to create faces, but now I'm stuck. I attach a wireframe jpeg. Can anyone offer any guidance? A big thank you!
