Hi I have a bit of a problem with components.
I have made in many cases components (let's say a window) that I also added texture on the glass so that it would be see through.
While editing or copying in over different walls it sometimes attaches perfectly on walls so I can see inside the building and other timesit doesn't (I just see through the window the texture of the wall in a bit meshed up way).
I can't seem to be able to find out when it works fine and when not.
Any ideas or tips would be really great.

      Thanx in advance

        Hi,

I'm not sure what to say without a problematic example just guessing; when you have inserted a component with a gluing/cutting plane into a model, it will always glue to (and cut through) the face you inserted it. If you try to copy/move it around,it will still be glued to the original plane but any other face that is out of this plane.

You will in this case have to insert a new instance of the component (onto the different face) which will then glue to this new face.

It seems that exactly that is my problem.
Is there any script or something that can make that easy for me? or should I turn around the component to the new face, explode it and make it again a new component?

            No way!

If you make a component, it will always be available for insertion in your component browser (Window > Components - and click on the little house icon there to see components that are "in model").

Now just grab the component from there and place it into your model.

              Hi Hetauma, hi folks.

If you see the texture of the wall through the glass portion of the component, it is because the face of the wall has not been cut. This may be due to a non vertical wall or a warped wall or the component has snapped to some other geometry that is in front of the wall.

              Just ideas.
