Sean, if you purge all un-used components, layers, materials, and styles from it, does it get smaller? And how about deleteing all materials. You might have to do both those things to make it small enough to upload somewhere. You can also try to .zip it too. Chris

You'll need to use TIG's 2D tools plugin

you need to physically (or virtually in 3D i guess ) move one thing in front of the other. if they share the exact same space you can't decide which one shows first.

@leedeetee said: Theyre' just normal PDFs, so just setting them up. I've actually been on my sickbed for most of the week with awful flu/cold so Carnegies have been slow. Was starting to feel a bit better though, hence my post, although, saying that, think I need to go back to bed. Is this how you'd do it? You have the right idea. Just pull the elevations back from the floor plan a bit, to give yourself some working room. And if you have grouped each view, and placed them on their own layer, you can turn them on or off as you wish. Looks like a great challenge you have there Lee. What a unique looking building. Should be fun.

Okay, I am 6 pages deep into this project in LayOut, and the font (reset) issue is frustrating me, now do I save this as a template too? And how do I deal with different fonts, line weights, fill types as they emerge during the creation of the drawings process, save all of that as a template too? aloha red

Just use triangulate... it should give you what you want. The cloud tools take data from a file that has a list of 3d points in it in various formats - sometime you get these from a surveyor as well as a dwg - if so you don't need the steps of importing the dwg at all as you can bring the points straight in and make a surface without it...

Hi everyone, thanks for your speedy help! I found un-checking 'continue line drawing' seems to have solved my problem. Some one put a suggestion about un-checking 'use fast feedback' in 'OpenGL', but this seems to have vanished. Does this mean it got moerated out, and I should undo this? I seem to use lines more often than not to define a point from which to perform the next action, hence my use of un-connected lines (drawing a peculiar tricycle). Thanks again. Best regards, Tony J.

Hi Tig I appreciate your explanation. It is when I measured the house I was compfortable with imperial as that is what I grew up with. But England and my job went metric and I got along fine with it. As I retired 6 years ago and found SU thats when I decided I would model my house. "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" is half right. In work I used metric quite easily and had no problems. But the regular door, window, etc.,sizes I could "see" in my head if they where wrong especially when They where out slightly. But if it was metric its not so obvious so I have to measure it exactly, and keep doing this, (which I would get to know like imperial), i'd have no problem. But the trouble is I am new to SU so I make a load of mistakes which takes time to correct. Thats why, at the moment, I'll stick to imperial. I glad it doesn't matter what it is as long as it comes out OK. But I will go back to metric - honest. Thanks for your reply John

We have just gone from TurboCAD to SketchUp and i will NEVER go back! You can have a similar 'tabbed' setup on SketchUp by making use of the Scenes .... http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=39656 may shed some light on it....

Hi, Alex, Personally, I haven´t attempted to model a bag, but with all that great stuff posted here - and I remember seeing something about shoe modeling also - I believe it is quite possible to design bags in SU as well. This may come in handy for pushing/pulling bendy and curvy shapes http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=42783#p42783 And you also shouldn´t miss this one http://www.smustard.com/script/SubdivideAndSmooth Oh, and welcome to the forums!

It might be the very tiny scales you are working in. SU tends not to create faces that would have as small edges as about 1 mm. Try to scale your whole drawing up by 10 (or even 100), create these intersections and extrusions and when ready, scale everything back.

Can you 'save as' the components in question with all layers on and hidden geometry revealed, so as to understand exactly what they consist of and experiment a little more easily with them. Explode them... Don't redraw.....yet. The components don't look too large to post, I don't think, but I have little experience with that.
