How can I correct 'reverse perspective'?
-
I have drawn over a floor plan of a bronze age farm house.
It contains two (parallel) rows of some 10 pillars.
Looking through the two rows the perspective seems to be correct.
Looking at the pillars from above, the perspective seems to reverse,
The farther away, the more the two lines of pillars separate.
Is there a way to solve this problem? Please note attachment (SU7).

Your Field of View is set REALLY low. it is down to 0.69. It should be up around 30 - 60. Go to Camera > Field of view and then type 30 and hit enter. It will set the FOV to 30, and then you will get your perspective looking right again.

It works! Thanks very much, Chris.

Hi Willem,
I see you are getting there... However;
There are repetitive elements in your model (like the pillars or the beams). These should be made into components and copied as many times as you have in the model. There are really great advantages of using component - one of the main would be that when you edit one (say to paint it with some wood texture), all the others will instantly change and inherit any modification. Also, using components will allow you to keep file size down however it is still quite bearable at the moment. -
Hello Gaieus,
Yes, I've made a component of a cross section of the pillars and pasted copies on the floor plan.
But I'm still a bit clumsy, hope it'll improve.
How do I fix a 30 deg viewing angle in the Camera field of view???
Each time I reopen the project the FOV defaults to less than 1 deg.
And how should I select animation clips to first show the pillars and then the cross sections ?
At the moment the whole lot appears at once, landing on the floor plan, i.e. the reverse of what I intend to show.
Best regards,

Now when you fix the camera aspect ratio as per Chris advise above, right click on the scene tab and "Update" it. Otherwise that tab will "remember2 the camera setting (and after all this feature is what you want to utilise in your animation).
Then make one of the pillars a component (try one that is not connected to anything); triple click to select all the right click and "Make component". (In fact, I did it in the attached version). Now delete all the pillars and copy this new pillar to their place.
For copying, you can use the Move tool while you keep the Ctrl key pressed. Also, I deleted the PhotoMatch Scene as that will not take you anywhere too much in the animation but added the floorplan as an image

Thanks very much Gaieus,
This really is great. I'm beginning to like the program very much.
I spend a lot of time reading the 800 plus pages of the Manual.
And I note that many concepts only become clear when trying out examples and my own inventions.
My next big challenge is the thatched roof with arches above the side door and the back door.
Best regards,
Willem. -
