What I like is that their apps looks clean and simple to use for browsing the backups, as well as the web interface. I find SpiderOaks' cumbersome to use when I need to access odd files when I'm away traveling etc. I want to use the service not only as backup but a way to get remote access to my data.

@david. said: . I know because I've used mid-range and high-end GPU's. The high end GPU made a huge difference in SU performance. Hmm this is interesting news to me. I'm about to purchase a PC for sketchup (and rendering with Indigo 3.0) and hadn't factored in a powerful GPU.. In fact i was planning to go with the fastest CPU i can afford and use ivybridge onboard video. It would be great to hear some experiences from people who have actually tried i5, i7, overclocked cpus and various GPUs... I've done a mountain of research but very little evidence points to any particular setup being ideal. Overclocked sandybridge EE, probably? My everyday workstation is new, 6-core xeon (watercooled), quadro 4000, SSD, etc. Of course it runs sketch up very well, and is awesome for rendering, but it cost a fortune...well above my home pc budget! i think i might have to head to a few shops and take along free sketchup and one of my models with lots of 3d trees!

Hi, Mike: I have resisted considering an all in one, until I noticed this comment in the copy: "customers could opt for an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M GPU with 2 GB of DDR5 video memory for a bit extra." Now, I don't know if this would please everyone, but, having this choice makes it more appealing. Thanks for the info.

I guess we'll see. I haven't reformatted the old hard drive yet so it could be returned to service without too much trouble.

http://lumionautics.com/interview-with-ferry-marcellis/ @unknownuser said: With Quest3D our development process is easy & fast… so there is a lot that can be done. On the short term, our goals are to incorporate features you might find in other application you use daily too… Like the creation of normal maps using Crazybump or nD02, or video editing using Premiere and After Effects. In the midterm we want to focus on what we do best and that is super quick end results. It is super important to us that our clients get their job done as quickly as possible and with high quality. This will allow them to do more work in less time or add more value to their own clients by providing much more revisions for example. In the long run, maybe we might try to give modeling a shot. It will continue like that I guess, but if it can replace Premiere and After Effects from my workflow. IThat's going to be interesting to me. And it would be quite useful, if SketchUp or Lumion can do this: http://youtu.be/Qhfl7dLs2fU IMO it is positive for workflow in SketchUp, when one don' have to use rendering software for most task any more I'm thinking about if the same thing going to happened with Trimble SketchUp. Yes only with these few lines, variation of the parameters, operators (*, +,/) etc... and the PNG start image, you have an infinite wold to explore!

One thing that is very good is that with a minor codec tweak you can export very high quality movies. The default isn't that great.

I saw the morph in Archicad 16 and felt that we are getting left behind. Sketchup should have had that in its core functionality ages ago. Besides the guys doing plugins there has not been any significant modeling capabilities added since the sandbox tools and that was in the @last years. I actually felt sad watching that. That is just my personal rant.

SketchUp will not benefit from an extra card. As for rendering: you need to find out with each rendering application whether they support GPU based rendering AND if they also support multiple cards. This is becoming sort of the way things go nowadays so hopefully more and more apps will have some sort of support in this area.

If you have photoshop, consider creating an action, and batch applying it to all the frames of your animation ( exprted as an image sequence). After that, use virtualdub to compile the result into an avi file
