Hi @Napper did you ever find anything to calculate these 'mixed material' groups? I am in a similar situation now and my search came up with this thread.

By the way, thanks again -I forgot to attach the file in the last message but here it is with the updated oscillating pistons. I think it'll work well as a template file to give to students to have them construct their own towers on top and try it at varying magnitudes. Like I mentioned before, it would be cool to actually get it working with simulated pieces that they'll actually use (straws, string, paper clips), but having a bunch of blocks to build with for conformity will probably have to do unless you guys have ideas. That's an issues of MSPhysics and it will be fixed in version 1.0.0. I already made some descent improvements to world scale. So, once it's released it should be working all well.

Hold the phone!! Tried it again and it works fine. What threw me off was the letter "S" is the keyboard short-cut for SCALE. So the icon for scale kept appearing. So I deleted the short-cut.............And ALL is well. Thank you for your time.

I have partly figured out what was going on here. Basically my model was a rack and pinion. I was trying to change all settings in the UI to try to get it to work but my mistake was not looking at the collision wireframe in the simulation. It seems that the Compound From CD collision shape in the MSPhysics UI is not getting either the rack or the pinion gear correct when the simulation is done. Perhaps this will be resolved if I try changing some other simulation parameters like world scale maybe?

I think your post refers to MSPhysics. You should ask the question under the index "Plugins" and MSPhysics.

Spring Awakening ... I've tested a video overlay of a rendered animation (Twilight) with SketchUp colors and lines to soften the dark shadows of Twilights animation setting "Preview Object Animation" (others are to time consuming) and to get a little SketchUp-style feeling. Animated with SketchyPhysics: clouds, birds, airplane, houses, smoke, trees, water, pedestrian and camera. Twilight rendering took about 15 days, because the system has broken down every 30 to 60 frames from the first third of the entire animation. Fortunately a restart of Physics rendering from a selected time is possible. Please watch the full one minute video on YouTube here: SpringAwakening [image: xSLR_Spring_Frame_33-24.jpg] [image: 97Wv_Spring_Frame_48-14.jpg]

Hi everyone, I am new in SketchyPhysics. I installed SketchyPhysics in Sketchup 8 (Windows 32 bits). I follow the tutorials but at the first test I found an error that has me stopped: I create a box and another copy over that. Mark "static" to the bottom box. Put a hinge in one border (left or right) in the middle edge of both boxes. Joint the hinge with the bottom box. Group the upper box with the hinge. And when I click in "play", the upper box fall down rotating from the hinge and fall through the bottom box. I tried to do a lot of times and always the same result. Is like that when I assign the "parent" to the hinge to rotate, that parent box become NO solid. Help please. Thanks.
