Hi Solo, Just trying to be creative, and didn't check if the following was previously posted. In the first model, create the desired scene, delete all, and save as a new file name. Then open the new file, find the drawing origin, and import the second model into it (on the origin), and go back to the scene as necessary. Worked on a small example, didn't try with anything big.

the image search is definitely an improvement over google.. haven't used it enough to feel out any real pos/negs.. mac users will need something like: http://www.machangout.com/ ..in order to get bing (or other) as your default engine in safari because only google is built in..

LOL - I actually made deep fried Mars Bars for an international food buffet party a few years ago. I had no idea how to make batter back then, so I went to my local (Swedish) supermarket, bought a handful of Mars Bars and a packet of tempura batter, sliced the Mars Bars up, coated them in the batter and fried them. I only made them as a novelty anyway so on tasting the horrendous results I thought I may as well put them out for anyone daft/brave enough to try them- bizarrely the plate was empty in no time, one French-Canadian guy came back for seconds saying he had been skeptical, but he really liked it. Here's the thing- I suspect "real" deep fried Mars Bars are made with plain batter- water and flour. The just-add-water Japanese tempura batter I'd bought was flavoured with, among other things.... garlic. They tasted absolutely disgusting. BTW, the whole deep fried Mars Bars thing is virtually an urban legend, stemming from one chip shop making them at the request of some school kids. I have seen them listed on the "menus" of a couple of chip shops, but I don't think I know a single person who ever tried one. In fact the only country I've been to where I couldn't find a single decent restaurant was the Czech Republic (and service with smile seemed to be an alien concept), but that was over 10 years ago. OK, I'll get down off my soap box now, but that's got me thinking, it's about time I did a Sunday roast!

This video is very cool Pete!!!! I always like some light animation: it really boosts up the architecture of the spaces! Could you share the technique you used to ceate your light animation? I'D LIKE TO LEARN..

I would definately use IR map for primary lighting and then Light cache for secondary. Use reinhard for your color mapping and adjust the burn value lower if you have overexposed areas of your rendering. For image sampling, I would start with adaptive QMC and if that is not getting you the amount of detail you desire, then switch to the"fixed" type and see how that works (this will probably increase rendering times a bit though). For your IR map, I would use a min of -3 and max rate of 0 with subdivides at 50 and samples 20. Those are for final quality settings and can be adjusted for tests. I just gave you those numbers to avoid having to explain the whole min and max concept, because it is kind of abstract and is better explained in the manual. Light cache settings are pretty much just controlled by the subdivs. Start with a value around 500 for tests and then got 1000-3500 for final and increas more if you still have a lot of noise. Make sure you have enough lights in the scene as well, so put lights inside of windows in addition to the sunlight. Hope this helps. Best of luck

I only render to show materials and oftentimes reflection of light. The "weight" of materials is important to me and a rendering helps convey that to a client. Otherwise, sketchup provides a nice visualization tool for the geometries and how materials come together. Tracking a reveal through 10,000 S.F. is difficult enough, but to actually SEE and make visually informed decisions based on how it looks within a space is critical!

I don't get it. On my Vista laptop, these images all look fine. No need to change any color space or anything. Must be a Mac only thing..? Now if Solo would have saved the images as CMYK I would totally understand it would look off. But they are RGB.....and pretty nice ones I think
