try if installing the Windows runtime libraries required by SU v2016/2017 again helps:

• Microsoft .NET Framework v4.5.2+
• Microsoft Visual C++ Redist. 2015
• Microsoft Universal C Runtime Update f. Win 7/8.x

always run these installers (as well as the SU setup) by "r-click > Run as Admin".

like the Dell UltraSharp models and would in general prefer Dell/NEC/Eizo models with a matte IPS panel, the Dell U2415 (16:10 / WUXGA 1.920 x 1.200) or the Dell U2515/U2715H (16:9 / WQHD 2.560 x 1.440) look like capable and reasonable allround monitors.

Keep in mind, that SU currently supports a Windows DPI scaling up to 150% only sothat 4K displays do lead to a tiny user interface sothat e.g. icons get small or the web-based dialogs may need to zoom/scroll etc.

did you have installed under another user account than the used one?

Try if running SU by "r-click > Run as Admin" once helps already.

After the date above affected lics cannot be upgraded to the recent version anymore but needs to buy a new license.

wer noch eine SU Pro-Lizenz in der Version 8 (oder älter) verwendet und upgraden will, sollte dies bis zum 24.04. angehen. Dasselbe gilt für Pro-Lizenzen deren Wartung dann mehr als 3 Jahre abgelaufen ist.

Zum 25.04. ist die Upgrade-Berechtigung der obigen Lizenzen abgekündigt, d.h. für die aktuelle Version muss man dann eine neue Lizenz kaufen.

Autodesk and Adobe seem to be very successful with their subscription models, partly because there is no alternative software available for a professional usage case (Adobe)... which is valid for SketchUp too. Losing seldom-users or cloud-haters is typically over-compensated by the additional revenue generated.
