Speed is what we need !! LO is a great tool - but it`s way to slow. More the once I had to work all night to get the job done - basically just waiting for LO to do what had to done. So - give us speed , don't rob our sleep!!

Thanks for the speedy responses, much appreciated guys. Just tried your test driven and got an animation out as a mov. Jeff, thanks for sending your settings. I now think that the problem with my file was in the settings - basically I had fiddled with something I shouldn't have. Have exported an email animation of my problematic file with the settings re-set and it works fine. Was trying to get the files size down but will do that in post instead. Thanks again

Thanks. I haven't found that documents created in other programs re-format, ive tried with several fonts including some that were made using cross font? Only seems to happen in LO. Thanks for the link tho.

@jhauswirth said: LayOut documents won't render the text the same moving a document from one OS to another. I just re-read this - do you mean that LO won't display (on screen) the fonts in the same way on different OS's. If that what you meant then I understand that PC's and Mac's display the font differently - the issue I have is that the formatting is different so when I save a doc on the PC that uses a light version of a font, when I open it on the mac its bold, and if I save a file on a PC then open it on a mac then the text is bigger. Ive just tested and saved a document with Arial 12pt text on a PC and opened it on a Mac and its still Arial 12pt but the text is bigger - in other words 12pt text on the PC is smaller than 12pt text on Mac which surely can't be right. The attached image shows a paragraph typed on a PC. The red arrows mark points as they appeared on the PC and the green arrows show where they have moved to on the mac. The formatting is shot to bits? Ive just done the same test in word and this does not occur, the formatting stays the same. Most other programs I've ever come across are able to retain text formatting regardless of the platform (indesign, word, powerpoint, vectorworks, outlook to name but a few . . . .) Thanks both for your responses - Ive been side tracked by another project but will be looking back into this shortly. Component reporter is fantastic TIG - very detailed! And JGB thanks for advice about running the script on files individually, no problem just wondered if I could run it on multiple files to save some time. Cheers Sam

Thanks Gaieus, Just thought it might be handy if there was a way to type it direct into a field in the View window so you dont have to set it in the prefs. I guess I just need to spend a bit of time getting my LO template sorted out with the most commonly used scales. Cheers

"An option to input measurements in different scales 1:1, 1:5, etc. Useful for drafting on top of ortho views. Components!!!!" Yes, let me second this Motion. Drawing in Layout on top of a Sketchup model (viewed in a viewport) to SCALE of the model would be sweet. I often develop "concepts" in Layout that I then export to Presentation software that I use to display at workshops (large groups). Making all overlay graphics readily to scale would be very nice.

Thanks Dave R, cool script. I will definitely be making use of this - this afternoon in fact. It would be even more useful if you could auto assign sequential page numbers in LO too. You could then associate the page numbers to the file numbers? But still a very useful tool and one that will be seing some action soon. I would still like to know if it might be possible to name PDFs from pages within LO at some time in the future. Our studio like many others names files to send to contractors and being able to ref the names from within LO would be such a great way to keep files in order. Thanks again

Ok - have had someone technical look at this and got this email " The problem is linked to mapped drives within windows, your colleague has a drive mapped for the server and the working folder to a letter i.e P(drive): So when you try and open on the MAC, the mac is not aware of the drive letter so has to be relinked. Possible way around this is to try and put the objects within the same folder and you use /<filename> " I know packages like Adobe Indesign don't struggle with issues like this in terms of referencing files on a network - is it possible for SU and LO work in a similar way so that PC and Mac users can both reference files in the same way? Is this something that Google might address in the future? Thanks
