You're a touch late to the party on this, the logo changed on a previous release and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to change back.

Not only I am using SU 2021 I am also not using Powerpoint... I don't have SU2019. I tend to ditch old versions when a new one releases whether I like new features or not. I wish they had some type of LTS(Long Term Support) for older versions so licensed users could at last expect the version they buy would get bug fixes and minor updates for at least 2 yrs. But that's separate to your issue.

@pipingguy said: but it is not editable. It would be if you use ThomThom's 3dText Editor to place it. You could get better looking labels if you added them in LayOut.

I just attached a file to my previous post that i thought i did , but did not. i understand your reasoning, but there is something quirky happening. whether i call it 'diving under the tray, or something else, it is a glitch, in my opinion. my workaround is to zoom out slowly, or to hit shift+z. it does not happen to a blank document, by the way.

Speaking of file size management, I use a feature in Adobe Acrobat Xl pro and/or DC that reduces PDF file size considerably without noticeable loss in fidelity. I don’t know if this applies to users who generate models with non-default styles, however. I attached a 3-page collection of snips of a 7 MB pdf, which, after I ran the reduction operation, size was squashed down to 1 MB. FYI....I created the LO file using hybrid and line scale @ .2 pt and when I exported it to PDF, I chose 'set image resolution' to high. Unfortunately, too many people take length snapping to mean grid snapping, which is not what it does. This misunderstanding coupled with how it actually works can cause subtle errors in models. The resulting problems are usually discovered much later when they have contaminated other entities and become difficult to correct. Like Box said, just turn it off and leave it that way.

Stay away from Autodesk objects that are 'surfaces'. I cannot break these down - no matter what.

That's not a bad idea, actually. I can place a guide point at my component's X,Y,Z intersection before exploding it. Smustard's Midpoint extension does the trick. Thank you Dave R. (See? Sometimes it pays to drill down.)

I've had some of these changes become annoying as in other software. I usually find I get used to it and don't notice once my muscle memory adjusts. That said the lackluster revamp of the layer window is sad. Try a mouse software that allows you to speed up your cursor movement. Once you get used to that it's even better.

I don't think this can be done 'on the fly' as you have found. However, the following should work (on PC). From the pattern palette, paint a surface with the required pattern. Select the surface and from the right click menu select 'Texture/Edit Texture Image'. I have Gimp as my preferred image editor, other editors will probably be a different sequence. When Gimp has loaded the selected texture go to the 'Image' dropdown menu and make sure 'Mode' is set to RGB. Select the pixels to change and then select the 'Bucket Fill' tool. Set the fill colour to your desired colour and fill the selected pixels. Export the image, with a new name, to a suitable folder for further use. Back in SU, create a new material from the saved, altered image. It will now appear in the 'In Model' materials palette. If you wish to use it in other models complete a 'Save As' and save as an SKM file, again to a suitable folder. You could add it to the shipped SU patterns but it would be lost if you had to do a re-install I believe.

i don't want to push it - but it would be cool if we could hover over the row of tabs and tilt the mouse wheel to force a scroll.

not sure i follow you pbacot. see attached sequence of crude screenshots. their numbers don't match the narrative below, but you get the picture. grab block's midpoint and drag it along red axis until it snaps to path 2's left edge drag block down along blue axis so it's flush with the poured concrete footing using inference snap, of course. move block to path 2's right edge using midpoint snaps and tap ctrl to make a copy. divide by 2 and erase the outboard copies. slide block along green axis and place it wherever you wish, nicely centered, on path 2. Edge color by axis as a built-in tolerance that will accept edges slightly off axis. Sometimes, as here, edges that are close enough for it to color are off by minute amounts that can mess up other operations. One would have hoped SketchUp could be more consistent, but evidently that's harder than it sounds!
