Are you going to work on a multi-user SketchUp environment where the server database holds the actions of all users and pushes that info back out to all other users simultaneously??????

Eh, noo... not for now. Your idea is nice, anyway πŸ˜„.
What I need is to store information about materials, dimensions and other characteristics of some predefined objects that will be created. And to be able to alter that data using a webdialog interface.
What is this post here? Because I find this http://www.tmtm.org/en/ruby/, but there I could find just linux packages. I don't know what I'm looking for... I just don't want to use a lot of programming languages. It's enough to me that I'm forced to use that ugly JavaScript for webdialog 😞

    • What is best database solution ?

What is the best database solution for Ruby SketchUp application? I want to be able to exchange data between ruby scripts, webdialog and database. I am not skilled in databases, i know the basics about relational databases, but never put that in practice.

      Thank you.

Is there a User Manual for SketchyPhysics3 or not (yet)? I remember that for SP2 was a website http://sketchyphysicstutorial.googlepages.com/, but I don't know if is something for SP3.

oh good, I hope you get it. post again if its not working. And no, I haven't been able to get to the inference yet. Its tricky. And transformations are what keep me awake at night - literally! I need a good book on 3d transformations...

      Chris

Well, Chris you suddenly became my best friend ! I'll share my toys with you πŸ˜„
When you will fully understand transformations, maybe you will share with us, because I still look at them something like this πŸ˜• 😲 ❓

      @chris fullmer said:

You don't need to know the positions of where the component is, but where it is going to move to.

Whow! thanks πŸ˜„ In fact is really simple. And I don't need the position of each vertex, just component's final orientation.
How about inferencing, Chris? Did you figured out? I finally understood how inference_lock works.
      Thanks again, Chris!

How do you define where you want it to move? Is it meeting up with another face? or is it based on the orientation of other geometry?

      Chris

I know the position in space of each vertex of the face.

    • How to orient component in space using ruby?

      Hy!
I want to move a simple component from one position to another and orient it in space. I know the position of all corners of a face. See attached image.
Please help me with this. Moving the component is the easy part. But there is the alignment which is tricky. pt1 is located in origin (axis don't show up in exported image)
      thanks πŸ’š

Of course yes! But in just few days, it will be the new Fredo6's plug! 😎
You don't seen his video teaser? ❓ (previous page)

Well, it was just too incredible... i wanted to know for sure. You guys are amazing! How you have brains to do such things and I'm crawling to understand how to use correctly inferencing in a script... Now I feel really dumb πŸ˜†

just installed the new SU on my new vistA.But my mouse no longer lets me click centre button and orbit around like normal. it instead shows me all the program open. how to change the settings.

      thanks!!

Have you installed some software that came with the mouse? Such software can change default functions of buttons. Uninstall that software and everything should became to normal. If it's bluetooth, check the settings. Put middle button functions on default.

    • How to use lock_inference ?

I'm working on a tool. For now is something like LineTool, but I want to force it to draw just parallel to global axis. I know I must use lock_inference for this. But there are two optional parameters (inputpoint) and I don't really understand too much from this http://code.google.com/intl/ro/apis/sketchup/docs/ourdoc/view.html#lock_inference
Can somebody give me a clue?
      Thanks.

    • "include" vs "require"

Hy ! It may look like a newbie question - that is it πŸ˜„
But... can somebody explain what is the difference between "include" and "require" statement? Maybe with a simple example to fix this once for ever in my mind.

      Thank you! β˜€

    • RE: How does this window work? ;)

Is there a possibility to identify where edges of a component intersect with faces of other component? Because if it is, then on that face can be added vertexes inside the component on intersection coordinates, then add lines. Finally delete the inner created face. In this way, the component cuts trough how many faces it intersects.

Does SU really not snap to tangent when you start of from an end point, or is it just me that somehow messes it up?

If you draw an arc inside a square, from its diagonal corners, you will not have tangent inference. It's very annoying, indeed.

How can I aply correct the texture in this stone?
A great improvement of would be a more advanced texture manipulation.

      Thank you.
