    • RE: SCFLicense: Extension Licensing on Sketchucation

Why isn't SketchUp paying you guy's to make these scripts to run their software which is virtually worthless in a business environment with out them. Buying these scripts on top of the basic program cost is starting to reach an inflection point for a lot of users of being too costly. Wow! at his rate we won't own anything. My generation was use to getting a program that it worked for years and you owned it.

Use Enscape if you can afford it. Realtime renders are the way to go IMHO.

      Thanks Dave!
Your instruction help tremendously. Instead of using bezier curve to make the arc I used the native arc tool and weld with same result.

      Dave,

I am trying to make correctly the metal basket twist. I was able to make the spiral using "drawhelix" but to come out of the spiral at top and bottom is a challenge. I had drawn straight lines on top and bottom of the spiral and tried to use a 2d fillet radius which did not work for me. What method(s) did you use to transition the spiral to the vertical?
      Thanks!

    • RE: Continuity of Customizations

On this topic, are there written guidelines to follow when updating from one version to another in order to maintain your customization. I.e. which folders/files can be copied into the new version without damage. I agree, it would be nice to have this automation occur. starting from scratch for each upgrade is a pain and I'm almost certain there will be something missed.

      Thanks!

      Chris,

It's called random stacked stone. Looks like some kinda of false buttress.
I don't think you need to go through that much effort with 3d. I would model the basic shape and texture it as you desire. Anything like this can be handle with a good "character refence guide" indicating color, pattern, texture and dimension you require. I good mason should be able to build this with a little art direction in the field. ofcurse the traditional cross section showing construction elements is necessary.

    • RE: [PLUGIN] Voronoi + Conic Curve

      Great Plugin Matt,

However, some regions will not work for some strange reason. Snag in program somewhere.
Good start though. I wish the ruby God's will help complete this one. Its very useful for creating metal sheets with these patterns and much much more. I used the "conic curve on face" and pointed to each face.

      Thanks!

    • RE: Curved structure

Pilou, Thats actually the thread I was looking for when thinking about this problem.

Brookefox, see the pdf attached above in previous post. The edge of the roof on 4 sides are wavy and unequal.
The columns are tilted in different directions and are of different heights. I may have to resort to subdivide and smooth.
But will this make a good triangulated mesh is the questions using subdivide.

    • RE: Curved structure

Thanks Pilou. Extrude tools works fine for 1 column but doing it with two or more columns is the issue. Resolving multiple columns into a free flowing surface is tricky if not impossible with sketchup. I looking to do it like the extrude lattice tool. All resolving into one mesh. Maybe the way to do it may be to use vertex tools which may be hard to be precise.
