OK, Box I stand corrected, completely
I installed 2016 and it works. An unexpected consequence is I had an issue with none of my Sketchup files showing the SU icon or previews. That function is now restored

RE: "We've Stopped Updating Sketchup Make"
2016, English? I know I might be seen as being argumentative here but like I said I can not get my head around the bussiness model of sketchup make still being available for download.

RE: "We've Stopped Updating Sketchup Make"
My mistake, a Duh! moment. I was trying to get a version other than 20217 Make whigh I have installed.
Not having a lot of luck though, so far anywayIt just makes no sense to me that trimble would allow people the option of downloading an older version of Make

If anyone is able to download an instal an older version of Make please let me know

RE: "We've Stopped Updating Sketchup Make"
Hi Box, I just tried to download Sketchup make to test. Seems to me it is no longer downloadable at least to install anyway. -

Box. I didn't know older versions are archived somewhere to download. Just wonder how you find that. So someone could get Make anytime?
If Trimble allowed "make" to be downloaded any time into the future, that would go against Trimbles trajectory of making everyone pay for Sketchup, apart from the almost useless free online version. I would be glad to be wrong about this.......but I don't think I am

RE: "We've Stopped Updating Sketchup Make"
Never suggested it would "stop working" was simply saying if your computer dies and you have not, or are unable to recover, or have the file backed up, you will not be able to re download. Am I wrong?
(Edited) I have had to do that about 5 times in 10 years. Now I cannot simply download 2017 is that correct?

hellnbak it doesn't impact you at all. You are happy with Make 2015 and it will continue to work for you as long as your computer keeps it working. If you keep your installation file you can continue to reinstall it as long as your OS is compatible.
They stopped updating Make more than a year ago, with the advent of SU2018, as you haven't needed 2016, 2017 or 2018 its unlikely that you would be interested in 2019.True but how long will it be supported? The subtext says to me if your computer dies, or becomes corrupted, will we be able to fix or or reinstall? I think not

RE: "We've Stopped Updating Sketchup Make"
Long story short, Yes, or any of the other options. The only reason they did not do it earlier was the handover contract with Google, which had the clause that Trimble maintained a free version for I assume 5 years. It will all go very downhill from here

RE: Courtyard garden.
Hi Mike, a suggestion, can you play with Depth of field to blurr the forground? Say centre of focus on the nearest part of the chair. Say an aperture of about as a guess 3.5?

RE: Airship in dock
Yes nice result Bryan, lot of work as well
Was thinking if you did a render with an environment such as a sky dome with the surface of the balloon being reflective? I think that would look amazing........jus a thought. -
RE: How to hide selected edges
Thanks Pixero, cannot believe I have never learnt that in all the years with sketchup. Thanks

Definitely one of those Duh! moments for me

How to hide selected edges
Hi, I am working on a model and want to get rid of some edges but show others. Is this possible?
Cheers

RE: Dome
Incredable work looks great
Do you have any guess of how many hours went int that to date? Just curious. -

Well, I must apologize if Iβm making things confused and convoluted to some, but they may not have read that other great thread:
https://forums.sketchup.com/t/an-open-letter-to-trimble/87510?u=chippwalters
and this one too:
https://forums.sketchup.com/t/open-letter/88172And yes, I am one of those old fart who think that the planet would be much better off if we weren't in a frenzy of consumption, always upgrading and trying to go desperately faster!
Many softwares kindly offer a small checkbox to untick if you don't want to see the home screen appear at each new opening.
I feel like an intrusive injonction the way the SketchUp Make starting screen ask me to say hello!
Sorry to point it out, but it was not like that with Google SketchUp Free
True also that being retired gives us plenty of time to complain and moan a little bit about the way things are going.....
.Hi Elmer, no apologies required
And reasonable complaints, but alas that seems to be the way things are going. Main thing is we have had years of Sketchup being owned by google that had a different objective, not entirely commercial. Unfortunately we will have to get used to Trimble or move on. I am not sure Trimble is reading the market correctly, but I may be wrong. -

In short,
(Q) How do I stop the start screen from popping up every time I open SU?
(A) Buy SU Pro as there is no way to disable the start screen in the Make version. Thanks fo clarifying

RE: How to get rid of that start screen
WOW, this is the most confusing, convoluted thread I have experinced as yet.

RE: Smit Panther ASD Tug
"WOW" is very appropriate mate
When all that goes together how many poly's do you expect and what file size? -
RE: Salt Racer
Really nice start Tuna
Cant wait to see the progress. I think the windshield will be hard to get right. -
Dyslexia question
Hi, was not sure where to ask this question.
How many people in this forum think they may be or are Dyslexic? I am curious. I am trying to find out if the correlation between being Dyslexic and 3D and design abilities and see if it manifests
disproportionately with 3D modelling users.Yay! I think I spelt disproportionately rite!
