Radio, many years in the making
I have posted something similar lately but deleted the post (Long story) anyway I have posted an image of a model I made in 1985. I was a response to a brief '" Explore how we form relationships with objects" Being 1984 we were also discovering how wasteful we are. We were asked to create a work of "conceptual design" I chose to make a model of an am radio utilising the many AM radios that were going to landfill from wrecked or redundant cars. The radio was to look human made and only had two knobs one for volume and the other for tuning. There are no markings as experience with using the radio you will build the human to object relationship (Intimacy) The work used am an Am radio I got from a wrecker, I just rewired the controls and gave it a 12v power supply. radios from old cars where the radio circuitry from the old radio would be used to build !
I find it interesting that this new design is completely original and is not derivative of anything aesthetic. And therefore completely original.
The image of the original radio was a good image but looks bad as i took it with my phone and is out of focus. -
Ambient Occlusion in SU 2024
Just had a play with Ambient Occlusion inside 2024. I did not take much care with the scene.

@Gus-R Does Twin Motion allow you control over the shadows softness? Your shadows are super sharp. But the gobos are soft
Shadow control in TM is through the choice of HDRI

I get it mate, context and in a scene with more of the genre would (imho) make for a better discussion piece which is what these game changers are for.
I would dearly like to see this in one of your scene renders because I believe it would be brought to life and we would appreciate it more easily.
Over to you mate, there is, somewhere here - a series of renders of a glass and concrete scene. Perfect for this I believe.
Cheers Mike, always the voice of reason. "Game changer" absolutely mate
As for putting it in a scene not sure about that. However if you have seen the movie Bettlejuice it would fit in, and be right at home

RE: Fine furniture/design object
I knew this would be divisive
Ettore Sottsass is an amazing Archirect/Designer/ Intellectual/futurist. I was gifted a book on this man back in my first year of Art school. He wrote of ordering food and medicine online..................Back in 1974. The lineage of this work goes back to Mondrian arguing with Picasso (they were sharing a studio in 1906) about Picasso not evolving cubism to its ultimate abstraction. Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg and Piet Modrian started the De Stijl movement. And the mondrian painting below is a "landscape" brought about by Mondrian flying over Holland in a bi-plane observing the very ordered fields of tulips. This extended cubism as a concept beyond Picasso's understanding and direction of cubism. through this painting and the red and blue chair........... and from that by extension was born Modernism being dovetailed into architecture, hence "modernist Architecture" and by by extension Post Modernism. Art is like a butterfly flapping its wings in China................. I have been on a rant, sorry, but I find this subject fascinating. Myself and just about every other student hated Art history at art school. Not knowing that it would be such an asset in later life, huge important subject. That piece of furniture is a very clever, considered work. It would not fit in my lounge, and I understand how its aesthetic could offend ( I think Dave R is wondering about his house muttering how he cannot un-see what he has seen

RE: Fine furniture/design object
@Mike-Amos Hey mike, understood, That is a piece designed by Ettore Sottsass. who is an very famous architect intellectual and visionary. He is famous amongst other things is responsible for the movement within the genre of post modernism being the "Memphis movement" movement. He is pretty much a arguably a genius. I realise how this work can be seen as as binary in opinion of aesthetics. I love this it is very brave and confident. If I have to put a value on this work at Sotheby's at 2000.00+ Dollars. I love this work So playful and clever . But not to every bodies taste I am sure, but intellectually the real deal.! Here is my render of it.
