remember awhile back I posted about "microvertices" and was there a way to clean them up?
this is what I see when I have that issue. tiny gaps between 2 vertices, as in micro-millimeters - smaller than SU likes to work with, that cause this triangulation.

all I found to do was to erase the affected area, draw a line in on the tri line (even after erasing one end, it'll remain!) then erasing that line and the redrawing the areas I had to erase.

..I hope that explained clearly.. I don't think I explained the problem well last time..

anyone know if the "flicks" bug has been fixed?
(where you zoom into a model, rotate round it, and suddenly the view is thrown several miles from the model and can be almost impossible to find the model again. resetting the views etc has little effect)

go with a Logitech Attack 3
it's a good solid stick, multiple buttons and a throttle. also it's ambidextrous. I have one to back up my X52 HOTAS Stick.
you can find the Attack3 for about $15 to $25 depending on sales etc.

I'd soften edges that make up the Inner and Outer faces using the CTRL+Eraser. then I'd select each smoothed face and make them a group and hide them, leaving the inner faces, lasso them and then delete those, unhide the groups and explode...

mind if I laugh hysterically at this point? trying to block porn on the internet is like trying to hold back the tide with a teaspoon.

I worked for a time as network administrator at a school.. for every 1 site I'd block to stop the kids seeing it, another 10 sites would open. no exaggeration. and that's just the "kit" sites, not the mainstream sites....

there's only one way to block porn on the net. turn the net off.

I tried those.. since these are not lonely (they're connected at both ends, just very very very small) they had no effect

when I import models via the 2 OBJ importers, I often get "microedges" - basically 2 vertexes about .00000001 apart from each other (example.. I can't actually get a proper measurement and they don't appear in the source model)... giving me all kinds of fun to track them down and fix it... if I could zoom in far enough be SO much easier... but anyway.

anyone know a good technique for fixing these edges? so far I'm having to erase and redraw areas to fix this.. but that's not convenient when at times you have to rebuild 75% of the model! there has to be a better way....

Don't know if anyone's suggested this, but grouping layers.

eg I could put all "Frame-Left-Assembly-01, 02, 03" Layers under "Left Side Framing"

you know like we do in Photoshop, where you can group layers together

I use a Logitech MX Revolution here. best mouse I've ever had. (the model now is the MX Performance. basically the same design with some tweaks)

as to the navi's.. yup I have one as well.. don't use it since it's no where near as useful as my N52te Nostromo keypad..

not free daz. (there's a changes a comin' - there will be a free ds.. but you won't be able to do anything with it usefully. the current free version won't be free for much longer)

also.. all you can do with genesis is pose it. if you want to make things for it.. $$$$. you have to buy the content creation tools.

sorry to be a downer... but...

I'd suggest the following.
export the mesh from SU as OBJ using TIG's OBJ exporter.
import that into Wings3D. in there, select the entire mesh and do a weld and combine. export that out as DAE.

that should work.. (it does for moving meshes to Poser)
