Just for clarification sake, I didn't "discover" the workaround. I stumbled on/discovered the video by SUforyou (referenced above) when trying to find out more about Daniel's plugin.

Perplexed why, what seems to be somewhat simple, has not been made into a native tool after all these years of users struggling with clipping.

I probably expressed myself inadequately. I wasn't saying that you "discovered" it, but was referring to the person (-s) in the clip you linked to. Although I know them to be long time SU users and rather proficient at it as well.

I appreciate the tip, but I'm not sure what you mean by "updating my classic license". I don't use the Pro version, just the make. So do I need to do something to ensure that I can continue to use 2015, or am I in danger of it becoming unusable at some point?

If you're happy with what you have then keep on using it. If you want to be a little future proof, download and archive SU 2017 Make, the last free version that isn't web based.

Like I told you before. It's only a name change from Layers to Tags and instead of Layer 0, Untagged. Use them exactly the same way. Untagged is always active. All edges and faces are created as untagged and remain untagged. Give groups and components other tags like you used to give them layer assignments. Use the tags to control visibility while you are working or when creating scenes.

Erm, yes, I did take note of that and it did offer some comfort momentarily until the following occured to me. Working with a standard installation and using the TAGS (LAYERS previously) the change should be easy enough to adapt to if that is just that, a superficial name change. But surely extensions call to specific things within the program, if those references were changed then the extensions would no longer work. Unless the various functions (called by extensions) are listed internally alpha-numerically (or some kind of ID instead of a name related to the function which is now changed) instead of naming them, in that case the extensions should function as expected?

Close. Artisan has a knife / dagger / Roman type sword icon, Zorro has a sable type sword icon.

OK, so the release notes page hasn't been updated to show SUPro 2020 yet.

And there is a different download link for an offline installer, the link by DaveR above (which is the historical download link) seems to be for an online installer? The file names in the various links, referring to SUPro 2020, are different with SU warning that the offline installer file is much larger than the online installer. WUT?

Online installer (Windows) = 200MB

My maintenance is up to date and active, so will download and get my licence, but I'm going to first look and see what benefits are. Losing layers is a bit of a bummer to my way of working, will have to see how to adapt.

Have you tried exporting as a series of images and recompose in a video editor?

Have you tried what is available on the Extension Warehouse?

• Texture Resizer looks like it may do the trick.
• Material Tools may also be useful.

I fired up a different truss type that I have not used before - attic truss. I work in metric (mm) but the attic truss is only imperial (ft / in). Roof pitch I work in is degrees, but am facing 1/12 ratio in imperial? Did I miss a setting somewhere?

How many of the other trusses / subsections are not homogeneous to each other? Can all the section / subsections be brought onto par with each other?
