      @jim said: This is a test piece I did last year. I post it as an example, although I think it basically works. Thanks, Jim. I DL'd, took a brief look and said, "Chapter 16". Gotta finish 15, first.

      Maybe the shadows are too soft (and there is no definite shadow for the legs of the chair) therefore it looks a bit floating (I guess in SU you know how to put something onto the ground).

      The code is probably not up to par for an official release to the EW. I wrote a lot of code years ago while I was out of work and had a lot of time. That was about 5 years ago. Since then, I have not had the time or energy to maintain the plugins and earn a living at the same time. The code on Github is currently the best version to download.

      @jkoll66 said: I know this post is like a thousand years old, but I was using the "extract_png.rb" from "Jim". It doesn't seem to work in SU2023. I need this to compile a catalogue of all of my components. Is there an updated version out there somewhere? I really need this. Thanks in advance! If you are doing this from within SketchUp, try something like: # SketchUp 2015 or later. def export_thumbnails(source_path = nil, dest_path = nil) # unless source_path && File.directory?(source_path) models = Sketchup.active_model.path if models.empty? models = File.join(ENV['HOME'], 'Documents') end # source_path = UI.select_directory( title; "Select Model Directory", directory; models ) return unless source_path end # unless dest_path && File.directory?(dest_path) images = Sketchup.active_model.path images = source_path if images.empty? # dest_path = UI.select_directory( title; "Select Image Output Directory", directory; images ) return unless dest_path end # Dir.glob( '*.skp', base; source_path ) do |skp| source_file = File.join(source_path, skp) image_file = skp.split('.')[0] << '.png' output_file = File.join( dest_path, image_file ) Sketchup.save_thumbnail(source_file, output_file) end # Dir loop # end ###

      Compressing a set of files that are already made pretty much as compacted as they can be, might reduce the total size buy only an insignificant amount: however, it does keep them all together and it let's you upload several files inside one zip file - e.g. for a PM where only one attachment is allowed You could also attach a password to a zip to make the contents more secure... So zipping them isn't useful just to make them smaller...

      @daniel said: Jim, Thanks, I need some luck. I have three tests left. One test I've failed a few times already - I've gone over it again and again, but cannot figure out what I've done wrong (of course, they don't tell you except "pass" or "fail"). Very frustrating. I'm not sure of the Tenn. regulations, but see if they will let you review the results at the license board in Nashville. A bit of a p.i.t.a. but might help you figure out the problem. follow this link to NCARB ARE page - http://www.ncarb.org/en/ARE/Taking-the-ARE/Receiving-Your-Score.aspx They should let you see a more detailed result. If they don't it might be time for the AIA to give the Registration Board a little push. http://www.aiatn.org/ If you're not a member you might consider it. Also - have you signed up for any refresher courses? Some universities have live courses, the state AIA might and there are some on line-correspondence types. Hope this helps. PM me if you would like to talk further. Jim Smith (AIA)

      @chris fullmer said: I could be way off, but I was thinking it was an optimization thing. I think they are just checking to see if the inputpoint changed, and only if it changes do they refire the draw method. Chris But as the manual says: @unknownuser said: true if a valid InputPoint was picked and it is different than it was before. From that, it sounds like the InputPoint object is performing the check for you. It returns true only if it's different from the last time you called pick.] (Note: I haven't tested that the implementation actually works as the manual says it should. We have enough examples of deviance... )

      Obliquely... Have you also noticed this [reported] bug in v2013 ? Win7 - but others might get it too... Open SketchUp v2013 Arrange some floating toolbars on screen - native, native-rb [like dcs] and plugin. Minimize SketchUp. Context-menu close it from the Task-Bar. Reopen SketchUp v2013. Native toolbars are where you left them. All native-rb and plugin toolbars have been 'deactivated' ! Bummer...

      @jim said: ... but how to incorporate it into the development cycle without imposing a performance penalty in the release version? Definately, any Test or Debug module would be something we would ONLY load during testing. We should not expect someone (ie the average user,) to have those modules loaded when they are just running and using Sketchup and the plugin (once it passes tests and is released.) If you were testing a plugin on a model that was very big and had alot of textures, I'm sure performance would be reduced. That's only during testing tho. Another option, is to cut up a Test or Debug module into smaller modulettes so only that which a tester needs is loaded. Perhaps take advantage of the autoload method, to do it automatically.

      @didier bur said: Hi, I can't read what's on your image, but this looks to me as this is an HTML error in the web dialog, not really a ruby error. I've published (long ago) a similar plugin to generate colors based on the Munsell system. It can be found here: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_details.php?id=258 Hope this helps, Hi Didier ,I really appreciate your help... Ive searched a Pugin who has an integration with Adobe Kuler color and Sketchup 8, but I havent had much luck, anyway thank you very much! Greetings!

      @martinrinehart said: See Chapter 20, when I finish it, for a thorough answer. Quick answer: Depends on content. Just text? innerHTML is far easier. Want to add a table? innerHTML is the hard way. Isn't there also innerText for adding just pure text? Though - this might be IE only...

      It requires your help to place several commands in a single icon, as shown by the "Fredo Tools" plugin. How is it done in Ruby?. Blessings
