So is there any point to compressing a folder of .png files? I think they are already compressed, right?

I realize zipping them for archiving is still useful, but compressing won't make the files any smaller, right?

      Hi

if you use something like precomp before compressing you can achieve a better compression ratio

unless you code your own installer it is not worth the trouble ๐Ÿ’š

I seem to remember that PNGs (and TIFs too)will compress somewhat (maybe 10%) when zipped, but JPGs won't. Long time since I compared folder sizes.

Compressing a set of files that are already made pretty much as compacted as they can be, might reduce the total size buy only an insignificant amount: however, it does keep them all together and it let's you upload several files inside one zip file - e.g. for a PM where only one attachment is allowed ๐Ÿ˜‰ You could also attach a password to a zip to make the contents more secure... So zipping them isn't useful just to make them smaller... ๐Ÿ’ญ
