I bought a copy of SU 2020 before they announce they were going the Autodesk screw you route. I've been able to download some fairly useful models from 3d warehouse. Now Trimble have shut done all access unless you're a paying subscriber. I'm calling bollocks on this and I think this is something that everyone who has a lifetime license need to lobby on.

Also, tried running install a second time, selected "Repair", still no go. Dead in the water until Tech support replies to my request.

Made it back --- Great convention. Learned some things; bought some things; great tastes; great sights, great music. No flooding! The levys held and the pumps are working. Visited the Google booth and had an informative chat with Chris Cronin and others about Layout3. Quite a few impressive construction document sets on display. Right across the aisle was Shaderlight. Daniel Tal was there making notes and giving tips. He is writing a new book on the renderer. After seeing the demos' and talking with Daniel, I decided to pick up a copy (at expo discount) I will post something as soon as I get a chance. Attached are a few of the 1500 photos we shot during the week in NOLA. I emphatically recommend bonnie's book. LO stood in my HD for years without use. after I bought her book and went through the exercises its usefulness became clear to me and I started using it for all my presentations.

Yes, the Prince of architectural darkness in Great Britain is called Charles. A very large percentage of land in the UK is owned by the royal family. Not good.

@chris fullmer said: Perhaps the real time relfections are? Most game engines can do realtime reflections. Either "real", meaning a camera that records the view and projects a texture on the reflective surface in real time, or reflecting a prerendered cubemap which is lighter on your gpu and is what I've used for reflective materials in my Unity apartment visualisation. The mirrors are "real" reflections: http://www.govisit.se

Thank you for your help again my friend, I really have an annoying issue here. @honoluludesktop said: ???? Maybe you need to rerun the SU8 install program as repair. Where are your component folders? My three (see the first image) are in: C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Components I also pointed the "Window > Preferences > Files > Models" to the component folder. I tried pointing those preference files - re-booted- no change. This is my 3rd install of SU8, and in one of the installs, the component box had some files that were saved in the SU7 folder. I am on re-install #2 with no luck. Everything is in the correct folder. Btw: I wasn't able to run your video, what do I need on my side to do so? The video was made with Jing, a free capture program for stills and video. The pro version is $14/year and lets you save in MP4 as well as the default SWF. The forum won't allow MP4's so it is SWF. thanks again. Hope your animation problem gets worked out

Thanks for posting this, (and to take the time to pm me). This is an extensive project, and is nice to see SU used in the workflow when working with real projects. It is downloading slowly so I haven't checked it all.

@tig said: there's Northumbria [Northumberland and Durham] [chez moi] - one of England's best kept secrets - with world-heritage-sites, history, fine-coasts, forests, dramatic-moors, night-life etc etc Totally agree, my favourite part of the UK. I am infact having my stag party in Northumberland (it's not a stag in the traditional sense - lots of walking, battlefield tours and real ale pubs etc). There is of course Holy Island too, one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. You could do a lot worse than visiting my home town of York too - steeped in history, from Roman, Viking, Norman, Medieval and right up to the present day. The Minster is mightily impressive and there are other hidden gems too. You;re also only an hour away from the Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Moors.

Seriously OT. The left is actually the ‘correct’ side of the road. It originally made perfect sense if you needed to defend yourself with a sword against an oncoming attacker (unless you’re a left-hander, like Jim, of course.) If driving a coach, you were also less likely to get the whip tangled in overhanging branches if your whip hand was in the middle of the road, rather than just feet away from the shrubbery at the side. This was actually formulated in a Papal edict around 1300 that advised all pilgrims to stick to the left. The reason that so many countries now drive on the right is thanks to the French and their revolution. Napoleon decided to be perverse…and as he conquered so many European nations, the habit spread. You Yanks have Lafayette to thank for driving on the wrong side…it was his recommendation. Phew! I need a beer after that explanation. That reminds me; those poor labourers that had to drink 4+ pints of beer a day were the same ones that used to complain they couldn’t get any decent food to eat. They had to survive on the ‘poor’ man’s diet of salmon and oysters.
