Problem opening 3d warehouse
-
I have not been using SU regularly and I have version 2018 - (I don't use it enough anymore to update), the program works well, however, I have not been able to open the warehouse or my Podium browser. In both cases, I receive a message "3D warehouse requires an internet connection. Please connect and try again"
I have my internet connection on but somehow the program will not recognize it. In the help menu, if I click on "learn" I get a message "it looks like you might be offline", which I am NOT. I have been clicking around all tabs and looked through the forum but have not found anyone else with this issue.
Hope someone can give me a heads up!!
I have a valid Version 2018 Pro, run windows 10 on an up-to-date machine, primary browser is Chrome, but I do use Edge and see no change in my SU dilemma.
Thanks to all.
Jim

Note that the 3D Warehouse no longer supports SketchUp 2018. After you fix the Internet connection issue, you still won't be able to use the 3D Warehouse UI in SketchUp 2018. You may be able to get some components from the 3DWH via the Components panel but that will be limited. You can go to the 3D Warehouse via your internet browser and get the Collada version of the components you are after. Extract the contents from the .zip file and import the included .dae file.

BOX- thanks for leading me to Collin's post about changing that one line, SU now allows me to open 3d Warehouse and my Podium browser. Dave R- I didn't have a problem opening 3D Warehouse with my V-18, I hope that it doesn't reconsider once I boot up again!

Did you try downloading a component from the 3D Warehouse via the UI?
The Warehouse doesn't convert models/components to 2018 anymore. Hasn't for a couple of months. See: https://help.sketchup.com/en/current-minus-two-version-policy

Dave R, just tried to download and just as you said - won't work, just allows me to look through the catalog. Guess I will make do with what I have. Thanks for the info.
At least my Podium Browser works.

Sounds like Podium was more important for you anyway. You can still get stuff from the 3DWH if it's got a Collada file option.

I bought a copy of SU 2020 before they announce they were going the Autodesk screw you route.
I've been able to download some fairly useful models from 3d warehouse.
Now Trimble have shut done all access unless you're a paying subscriber.
I'm calling bollocks on this and I think this is something that everyone who has a lifetime license need to lobby on.
