Got to agree it is an unusual and interesting design and nice clean presentation of the model.

I am just now introducing myself to Sketchfab, and here is a Sketchfab version of this in which one can examine the method of joinery. Enjoy. https://sketchfab.com/models/61a26a95bb2f4f5cace4d8c466982e6e

@gene davis said: I copied the plug in from there and pasted into 2016, and all works fine. You shouldn't do that because there may be incompatibilities between different versions and it's always better to download a fresh and up-to-date version of plugins. (This time you were lucky because 6.0 is the current version in the Pluginstore: http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Mirror ) (TIG was faster, but for me the answer was more work, so here it is.)

Word of warning on the Crai Depot... It's a valuable repository of plugins, but many are out of date and newer/compatible versions are now available elsewhere... Especially if you have >=v2015... So check for the newest versions of the desired plugin, on any of the sites I have just listed. If there isn't one, then try using the Depot's version... However, if you get problems when SketchUp restarts, then you might need to remove the file[s] you've just installed... and seek compatible versions elsewhere...

Gene, Cool model. Here's one way to shape the wishbone back, using the native SketchUp tools: Think about how you would make the piece in the shop: Probably cooper a blank, then bandsaw the shape. The SketchUp routine is similar, but since there's no bandsaw tool in SketchUp you'll intersect two shapes and erase the parts you don't need. Begin by drawing the wishbone shape at its maximum thickness. It will be easier if you do this so the shape aligns with the red and blue axes. Make the shape a component. Then use the 2-point arc tool to draw the curve. Do this on the side of the wishbone shape, making sure the wishbone shape is not open for editing. Use Push/Pull to push the curve shape through the wishbone. Double-click the curve shape, go to edit>cut. Double click the wishbone shape and go to edit>paste in place. Single-click the component, copy it, and use the scale tool to enlarge the copy 100 times. Now, work on the giant copy. Double-click it, select everything, then go to edit>intersect faces>with selection. Erase all the waste. You should be left with a curved and tapered wishbone. Delete the giant copy and use the zoom extents tool to get back to the original component. Now you can rotate it into position on the model. Hope this helps. dh

Install SCF Plugin STORE on both versions. Create a bundle from your 2014 version and then open version 2015 and install that bundle there. http://sketchucation.com/resources/plugin-store-download

Indeed, Peter. It also depends upon what you need to get out of the model when finished. It wouldn't be all that useful to have a cutlist showing halves or quarters of parts when you need the whole thing.

I'm afraid I got the discussion sidetracked from Gene's design. It's very interesting, and it shows how Mackintosh took the Arts & Crafts esthetic in a new direction. Gene's model looks to be very faithful to the original. dh

Very nice, Gene. The cutouts in the back splats give the piece a little flavor of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Greene brothers. Best, dh

Just input number on the VBC (the little box dialog right bottom page) of Sketchup! Even type directly number on your numeric keyboard! When you click the surface a blue box must appear! [image: zPds_just.jpg] And of course ENTER after your pressure number! Your surface must be inflate! Now just enter directly another number (positive or negative) for another drawing! etc...to your form wished! [image: 99g9_just1.jpg]

A key question is whether you are finished drawing one end and just need symmetry at the other end, or if you intend to continue editing the first end and expect the other end to mirror it. For the former, you can simply select the relevant Edges and Faces at the first end, move a copy to the other end, flip it, and drop it in place. Often you will need to clean up a stray Edge or two or repair a Face if you do it that way, but it is fast and easy. For the latter, though, you need to do something like Dave describes because you need both ends to be instances of the same ComponentDefinition, just flipped. But you will have to explode the board and the ends and then recreate the board as a single component when you are done else you will get the kinds of cut list issues he describes. Steve

Very attractive design. I especially like the slats between the legs. If it's a work in progress, how about trying an alternative style for the legs: 3" or 4" square instead of the curved Limbert-style legs? Best, dh

Glad you got it sorted. I'd sent you a PM offering to personally help you get it sorted but I guess you ignored it and got it straightened out on your own.
