Yes, I have tried that step-by-step. First of all, that is for Rhino and some of the steps aren't options in 1.49 (eg. enable the "New Map mode" )

However, I can follow it, but it results in a black image.

    • VRImage from 1.49?

Has anybody successfully exported to vrimage? One I convert it to .exr it opens just as a black image.

Is it necessary to save the irrdiance map first?

I have SU8, vray 1.49, win 32 bit, 4 gb, 2.53 dual core. The scene is around 30 mb. I have tried taking out high poly geometry and rendering a small output with no luck.

      Any input is appreciated.

Please, any help would be so appreciated.

Check out ThomThom's 'Cleanup' and 'Plan Tools' plugins. I think they would help for this.

Isn't that an interesting idea? Very good.

True. But if you could some how automagically take the profile lines and create guides and the vanishing points, that would be cool.

Is there a plugin that could label a models various vanishing points? This would be used later for a hand rendering. See attached.

      Thanks in advance!

However there is no Vray Toys tool bar anywhere.

The V-Ray Toys toolbar should be available before loading V-Ray. From the View > Toolbar menu.

Did you mean the V-Ray for SketchUp toolbar? (if so - do you get errors when you try to start V-Ray?)

      @focpt said:

Never experienced this. You don't get this without V-Ray Toys?

Ahhh, don't know why I didn't check the view>toolbar menu... it was late. I'll try again tonight.

No I don't. Do I need to change permissions on my programs>google>su folder? When I copy paste plugins it asks for permissions (windows vista).

      Thanks

    • RE: [Plugin] V-Ray Tools

      ThomThom,

First of all, thank you for all your hard work on plugins. Really great stuff.

I'm having trouble with V-Ray Toys. I have SU8, with the latest VfSU 1.48xxx. I did the following:

      1. Unchecked Vray from preferences.
      2. Closed SU
      3. Copied Vray toys into plugin folder.
      4. Opened SU
      5. Used Vray drop down to start VRay.

However there is no Vray Toys tool bar anywhere. Also, when I close SU I get a bugsplat. Any ideas?

I'm really just interested in the camer sync option right now. Is there a way to use that ruby only? Or some way to manually sync the cameras.

      Cheers,
      Nathan

    • RE: Problems with modeling from Acad drawings

Typically, I will do the following when bringing in cad:

      1. Isolate only the layers I need

      2. Wblock that to a new file, open that file, change all to layer zero, flatten, purge, save as acad 2000

      3. In sketch up I will bring it in as a group and lock it. Then trace over the lines. Sometimes I will use the actual cad, but it is a case by case evaluation. Hint: curves cause problems.

It isn't as smooth as you think it would be. Sometimes I like to work off a jpg of the concept instead of the cad.

If you are doing an illustration, if it looks right, it is right.

Ok, I figured out how to make 'invisible' materials in VRay:

      Greetings,

I discovered how to render materials invisible, but with shadows still showing. This would be helpful for situations where you want to add trees in photoshop post process.

If I am not mistaken he uses photoshop post pro for his work.
He seems to have uncanny taste in the numbers and placement of the people he uses.(IMHO)
There are examples in the above links of closeup, overhead, and distant use.

Look closely at the first images (African Market). The raw rendering has shadows from a tree, but the tree doesn't render. How is this done??!! That could be helpful. Is this an option in VRay or was that from Max?
