Thank you Elisei for posting this - what a wonderful find! I think the portraits (see the web site) are particularly mesmerising. That book's on my Christmas list!

RE: [Plugin] RichSection V0.5.8 UPDATED march 2015
Thank you. I've just completed a more than usually complex drawing that required cross sections. I use RichSection to great effect. I really like all the additional optional colours, line types & infills.

RE: Clarification
yes, I've been wondering that myself - can't find a directory anywhere.

RE: The apartment with paintings

A great photo is like a work of art, it goes beyond photo realism and captures the essence of a scene, giving it a soul and a back story and often asking more questions than it answers. It invites the viewer into its reality, it gives you a memory rather than a picture.
Tenebrism... not often used these days; the extension from the paintings to the scene contents has created something much more than just photorealism - as Box says the image has 'soul'.

RE: Help! Resizing problems!

If you have other objects that you don't want resized, make the atm entities into a group or component. Edit the group and perform the tape measure rescaling there, protecting the rest of the model. The rescale works on all object in the current "context"
didn't know that! this should be copied to the 'Doh!' thread
... (edit) that is to say, the SU manual/tutorials explains (at least, when I read them)that the tape measure rescaling technique controls the complete drawing file, not that it can be limited to individual groups/components

I think there's also a article on just this subject in a back issue of CatchUp

RE: Bedroom
Gorgeous!
I don't usually comment on renders as I don't do them myself & don't feel qualified to comment. But I can almost feel the warmth of the sun across the carpet & I shall be studying the random folds of the duvet modelling for quite some time.
... & I wouldn't mind having a bedroom like that myself! -

Whats the story regarding the playboy bunny on the cover? - Surely good content sells itself? Why do we need to use sex to sell it?
Oh! Thank heaven it's not just me! I get the joke but didn't expect to see it here.
Thank you for speaking up Ashscott.

RE: Running SU animation
re; a better computer - I was counting on that being the case, but no. We've agreed to run the presentation from my computer for now. Its not been a wasted exercise though as it's illustrated why I invested in the right hardware, etc. The process of sending the SU file to the client has been working well so far & it hadn't occurred to me there might be a problem in presenting via laptop to a larger screen. All part of the learning curve, eh! Anyway, client is happy to present from my PC & we will explore other options later.

RE: Running SU animation
Thank you both. I hadn't thought of Sketchup viewer. Good idea, however, it doesn't improve my client's graphic resolution. & yes Dave, I'm 95% sure its a card problem... need to persuade client to upgrade.. In the mean time I might just have time to run it to avi format.

Running SU animation
I've produced an animation sequence which a client would like to run direct from SU on his own laptop, projected to a large screen. NB. we are running the animation directly from SU, not saved to AVI format. However, on his system the resolution is not good compared to mine. We have surmised that this is as a consequence of our relative graphics cards. I have ensured that his OpenGL preference setting is set to 'use hardware acceleration'.
My question is... are there any other SU settings that might make a difference to my clients system performance?

RE: [Plugin]$ Keyframe Animation
Not sure if this helps, but it sounds similar to my problem with a folding door sequence (earlier in this thread) - you might find an answer in there.

RE: ACAD LT 2014 - why?
Not sure if this is any help & probably out of date info. When I upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 my ancient ACAD 2004 wouldn't run, so we opened it through administrator... might work for you.

Not sure why I missed this post 'til now (thought you seemed a bit quiet!) Just like to add my congratulations on the excellent news.

RE: Frozen scene manager
Yes, I've been trying that myself. Further investigation has shown that is I set the scene manager to 'detail' (previously it was set to 'list') this seems to work. However, the files already effected by the problem will not re-open (the position they were last saved at being a view with complex shadows).
At present we think it could be a clash with other software. I am continuing with the project re-building from a previous model (I'll lose about 5 hours work) with these new settings & save, save, save!
In the mean time, if anyone has any other suggestions...

Frozen scene manager
Could anyone help, please!
I'm working on a drawing & have set up one initial scene. When I came to set up a second scene the file has frozen with this message regarding thumbnails(which I don't use anyway). Between setting each scene I have been adjusting a couple of components (ceiling panels - setting them not to cast shadows) & adjusting some of the settings for the chosen style but nothing else. I've run 'cleanup' & found nothing wrong.
I will attach the file if required.
... it appears not to be file related but is triggered if I right click on the scene tab & select 'scene manager' (see attached) - there after, every new scene brings up the thumbnail message & is frozen.

RE: Car models required
Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Some wonderful models there. The cars are really way beyond my needs at present, but might be needed in the future.
