I have been asked to supply a plan sheet produced in Layout in DWG/DXF format as well as the usual PDF format.
I have exported from Layout (see attached window) to DWG in model space mode. However, when I open the exported file the background is black (concealing details also in black) and line weights look pretty thick - see second attached image. I've read through the various threads here & it seems a bit of a mine field of adjustments to get a result. Can anyone guide me or is it so much trouble I should decline to offer the file format?
NB. I no longer use ACAD but keep DraftSight on hand incase I need to read DWG/DXF files.

RE: Object Animation & Scene Rendering
Thanks so much Pilou. I've checked out the tuts & Blender looks exactly what I need and more. About to download it... I'll let you know how I get on... still a bit of a learning curve to climb!

RE: Object Animation & Scene Rendering
This thread leads directly to the issue Iām trying to resolve.
Iām using Twilight Render and want to produce a video (just camera movement at present, no object animation). Previously I would just out-put directly from SU to an AVI format. However, Twilight will only output the frames, (which I have successfully achieved already).
My problem is that I need software that will now assemble the frames into video formatā¦.and Iām running Windows 10.
Previously Iāve used Virtualdub ā bit it appears un-stable on Win 10 (saving sometimes fails).
Iāve tried Win Movie Maker, but canāt seem to speed up the frame rate (the editor has a 1min. minimum settingā¦ my test movie is only 4 secs). The best Iāve achieved is ācrawlā through the frames at approx.. 1 sec each instead of at least 30 per sec.
I downloaded Filmora but it keeps crashing (again now Win 10 compatible). Seems more suited to video editing rather than frames assemble.
Iāve come across Debug Modeās Wax / Frame Server which might suit, but again, donāt think itās Win 10 compat.
I donāt particularly want to back to Win8 as Win 10 has improved my system in other ways.
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
I realise this question would better be directed to the Twilight forum ā I have asked, but no replies as yet. Itās also a bit of a āheads upā to ntxdave if you go down this route. -
RE: SU - better on Mac or PC
Ok - that's good news then. I can't see my PC being too lightweight:-
i7 - 2600 CPU 3.40GHz
8GB ram
64bit
1TB storageIncidentally, I ran Thom Thom's clean up on it... which removed 40MB straight away! That makes it light enough for now.

SU - better on Mac or PC
I've just come up against an issue... I need to work with an SU file that was created on Mac. It has a lot of construction detail and is approx. 60MB. I don't need all the detail & would happily work through the file & simplify the construction but would like to avoid the time/cost of doing this.
I have been advised that Mac is far better suited to processing large files so this amount of detail does not present a problem, while on PC the file frequently hangs or even crashes.
Is this correct and should I therefore consider Mac as an option? Can anyone offer advice please?

RE: All my 2-D components are z-fighting!
I've had this issue too. I can't recall how or if we fixed it. I'll check back (its a couple of years ago). In the mean time, if you discover an answer, I'd be very pleased to know also.

who knows how many other things have been needlessly complicated and time consuming simply because I just don't know how to do them.
Well, I hadn't realised how much more helpful it would be to glue components either. I knew it was a option... just didn't take the time to explore it!
However, we never stop learning. If I hadn't read this thread... I wouldn't have learnt this technique. Hope that makes you feel a little better?
PS. perhaps we should now be call it 'rivet' not 'glue'!

RE: Spot the Honey Bee!!!
Regarding identifying bees - I confess I have no idea which is which or their proper names. However, I saw this in The Gaurdian today... very helpful. I shall also by buying the set of stamps as I occasionally collect & frame sets - so I'll have a handy reference in future.

RE: SU 2015 Make Welcome screen
Sorry, don't know if its the same as PRO... but don't you have a check/uncheck box in the bottom left corner of the startup window?

RE: Price Rise
Lots or reasoning going on here.
All I can say is that my first thought was how would my clients behave if I presented them with a 35% increase (after VAT) in my services? They might accept it... they would probably expect more/better services... they would very likely look around at who else might offer the same service and what they might charge.
For the first time ever... this is how I have felt about SU. I know its not likely I'll find better for the same or less cost, but it has made me consider looking! -

RE: Spot the Honey Bee!!!
We've noticed the decline in the 5 years we've lived here (Cambs Fens). Although we've had plenty of open flowers for them we haven't seen a single honey bee this year. What we have are bumble bees, but few. I read the other day how to revive a tired bee with a little honey & the very next day I had the opportunity to save a bumble in just this way. It was amazing to watch him recover so fast.

RE: Two more npr fly around videos
Delightful! I particularly like the muted tones of the 005 & 007 videos. I just want to go & pour myself a tall glass of iced tea now!

RE: Rotring pens
PS. I've just seen two sets on e-bay
edit: I'm getting old - it wasn't a writing pen it was the mechanical pencil. Again, lots still available on e-bay (apparently they haven't been made for 15 years). It's the weight & balance of them as well as the machined look that I remember. Stefanq, if you like to sketch with pencil, I think you'ld love these.

RE: Rotring pens
True, they block up & are difficult to clean... but Oooh! when they work they're wonderful. I treasured mine as much as my paint brushes. The older, heavier ones especially have a quality that's like using a beautiful fountain pen. As well as using them for all my graphics work, I had a Rotring special edition writing pen that looks like a long, aluminium bolt... very stylish!

RE: Incorrect dimensions
You probably know all these suggestions, but I'll mention them anyway:- It always seems these type of problems are because the scene isn't saved fully/correctly in SU. Have you checker all the 'properties to save' options in the Scenes window? After that, make sure the SU file is resaved before you go back to LO & update the file reference.
Re: dimensions - have you set the scale up under the SU model tab?

RE: Is it possible to replace a Photo Match source?
Hadn't even thought to do that - but will do next time.
I recently had to visualize an exhibit in some very decorative hotel rooms. As I wasn't about to model all the architecture I started with photo match, but as things progressed I was asked to change the room images... so I started again with the amended images & copied my models into them. This would have been a quicker option.
Thanks for the tip. -
RE: Zebra flute
Cotty, your render has reminded me of how I used to have to map textures. Now its so easy to wrap the texture around a surface... but what if one actually wants the texture to run through the model, as with this recorder? I can't think how to do that, either with SU of another renderer.
