Maybe worth mentioning that if you run a program as admin, it won't see drives you mapped as your user.

This happens a lot, with files that are on either of my internal drives, my 500GB SSD or my 1TB HD. The current file I'm having problems with is 58MB.

I am having this very same problem with mirror_31.rb crashing my SU7. Everything was working properly and about 30 min into a model, SU started crashing every time I try mirroring something. After several crashes, I tried mirroing again with the Outliner window closed and everything worked fine! My guess is that after the model starts getting more complex SU can't handle updating the Outliner as efficiently in this case after using the mirror tool? Don't know if this applies to you Dik but it might be worth a check. Fefo

Thanks Gaieus, In fact, some that were missing earlier this morning and I replaced, are back. I guess that when you look at a collection, what you see is just a search for items in that collection. I'll just have to learn not to panic when something is missing.

Chris, I understand all that, that is not the issue. I could just download the file and then open it, which is what I do if I think I'm going to want to keep the file. In fact, I have my browsers download to a folder of my own choosing, not the temp folder under my profile. My issue is having to close that worthless dialog that opens. The scenario is usually that I'm reading this forum on one monitor and want to open an attached SU file on the other monitor to look at what the problem, example, etc. is. I click on the attachment and elect to open it with SU. I continue to read while waiting for the file to download and SU to open. After a while, I realize that SU has not opened because it is still waiting for me to close that dialog. SU already tells me that the file is read-only in the title bar of the SU window, why require me to verify that the file is read-only before it will open the file? I realize that this trivial, but it is one of those trivial non-user-friendly nuisances that bug me.

Sorry Dik, You are right, I forgot about the 'import' or 'open as component' rule for these files. the recursion commented out is what makes it work incorrectly. however, it seems like you want to perhaps identify the group or component tag at the parent level as to where the recursion on the child parts go? otherwise, you would need to open the top level group and apply each group or component separately. on the former - that's probably some coding to identify if the parent tag is something other than layer0 and use that tag to then recursively tag all children objects. there is a downside to that, because now all the children will be assigned tags which means to move the group or component all the recursion will have to happen again, versus having built the object(s) in layer0 and applying the tag to the parent (in which case the children will be shown or hidden when that tag is checked or unchecked).

While explaining this problem to the LOML, I realized that the problem was caused by me. I didn't save my work before running SP. Therefore, when SU crashed and I reverted to the last auto backup, which was done while SP was running, the restored file had objects where they were when SP was running, and thus not where I want them. Another case of user head space error... Maybe if SU didn't do auto backups while SP was running, this would not happen when the user acts before thinking.
