Thanks for the comments. The cars, btw, are from FormFonts; the people from Poser. Ray, it always helps to get a fresh set of eyes looking at things, thanx. I agree, it does seem somewhat sterile. However, most clients don't want to see "messy reality" (sadly, where this building is that would include the homeless). In fact, we "removed" a rather ugly utility pole in front of the building. One thing that would help are the road textures (too clean), but haven't been able to master mixed materials in Vue yet. Maybe a few more people?

Its a good chance that as its a laptop, Vista is powering down the network adapter if it thinks its not being used. Did a search in google (vista power network disconnect) and found the following: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/33307acf-0698-41ba-b014-ea0a2eb8d0a81033.mspx#EAMAC 5th one in the list: "I get disconnected from my network periodically" http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-215154.php http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928152 http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_hibernate.htm Hope this helps, sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

Dan Looking fantastic, the best part is texturing and rendering, nice to hear you chose Podium for render, version 1.5 (out very soon...in days) has a GI setting that will make your design "pop". feel free to ask if you have any questions. cannot wait to see the final rendering.

I don't know why, but never even thought to look for it on FormFonts. But still had fun modeling it.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking along the same lines as far as the graphics card. Unfortunately, don't have the room for two monitors.

I thin we would all like to know sometimes how long we have spent on a model. I bet the reality is quite different to your perception! I shall buy this script.

I've made a few decent models for my university work, that I would love to post. One model was very instrumental in selling them on the design. But they are an important client, and they requested I don't post their projects

Beautifull work! I could have used it with the library I modeled a little while ago. On the other hand, it would have made my library look shaby in comparison.

It's Sunday in a small East Tennessee town. Everythings closed. He's waiting on his girlfriend Martina to pick him up. Thanks guys. It's my first "real" rendering with Vue. The man is from Poser, the bench from FormFonts. Everything else I modeled and textured in SU (except sky and trees).

Thanks for the reply, Jackson. I am using Vue 6 Esprit - I cannot find anywhere where it defines units - I think that is a limitation of esprit. I've decided to upgrade to the Infinite version (early Christmas present). Besides some extras, it has the option to use imperial units, and to import SU files directly. The problem I had was with some trees purchased through cornucopia3d. They were no where near being close to what they should have been. My logical brain just doesn't understand creating something so far out of scale (and they were SolidGrowth trees, so they had to have used the same program to create them).
