RE: Open plan residence, first floor.
For me, it's about the proportions of the space and how it feels. My house is small, so the 8' ceilings seem normal, comfortable. But I have been in some large spaces with 8' ceilings, and it felt like the ceiling was pressing down on me.

RE: Open plan residence, first floor.
Mike, that is what I meant by the ceiling too low. Although 8' sounds like a decent ceiling height, and may work functionally, in such a large space it will FEEL lower.

RE: Loft Bedroom WIP
Looks great, Adam, but your wood grain is running in the wrong direction on some parts of the two bookcases. It really stands out on the side of the bookcase on the left.

Nice rendering. The ceiling height looks low for such a large space.

RE: I hate copper thieves.
We had a university renovation project years ago which had security fencing and University security, yet thieves still managed to break in and steal all the copper wire! Luckily, the contractor was insured.
I think incidences of copper theft have fallen off around here since they've required the scrap metal businesses to identify people selling copper. But, I've read the theft of manhole covers (for scrap) has become a problem now. -
RE: Christmas in the 3D world...
A new version of Vue came out about a month ago.

RE: Away From the Computer and SketchUp
Dave, the time spent away from the computer and sketchup...how long before the withdrawal symptoms set in?

RE: Egg-shaped burial pods!
There is a small movement in the US for natural burials (no embalming, biodegradable casket or no casket at all), with some cemeteries now offering them.

I have LumenRT 4 Studio without maintenance.
What is the price for a upgrade to version 5?Also, does it work now with PlantFactory so we can import our own trees?
If you are seriously considering upgrading to the 2015 version, you should renew your maintenance subscription (if not too late); you get any new software versions and/or updates for free that come out during your maintenance subscription. Maintenance is $199, which is a lot cheaper than buying an upgrade.
It would be great if PlantFactory items could be imported into LumenRT; at the eon software forums, they've mentioned they are working on it, but have been noncommittal in regards to this next release.
Well, I don't have a maintenance subscription so my question about upgrade price from version 4 to version 5 stands.
But it might not be too late to get a maintenance subscription.

That would be awesome as I get calls for plants that are not available in the standard library like just a few days ago i needed plants for a home in new Mexico and had to run around hunting for them, if Plant factory was integrated it would be as simple as finding one in the extensive library or creating it yourself, that way it will blow in the wind as needed.

Oh, I would also need to buy plant factory as i doubt my PLE will work.

I'm in a similar boat. Most of the plants offered in the standard library do not work for East Tennessee. And it seems most render app libraries always fall short on shrubs.
