In some years, we will use a 4 components 3D printer (wood, rings, bulb, cables) to create things like this in one go

Mate that would be a nice park bench if cantilevered from cast in uprights without the arms.!!!

@krisidious said: When faced with an issue of faces on components... keep the two components but make the face on the front a group, then make the group and the component a group. Now you'll have two almost identical copies with different faces. nice tip

@tig said: You cannot drag-and-drop files from Windows Explorer onto a program's window if that program is running as administrator. An application with a lower privilege cannot talk to a higher [admin] one. And weirdly Windows Explorer never runs as admin ! So try changing your SketchUp.exe properties > compatibility to NOT run as admin ! This might cause other issues [like permissions etc if you didn't initially install it as an admin] - BUT it will then allow drag-and-drop of Image files onto SketchUp ! I just came into the forum to tell you I solved the issue by unchecking "run as admin", and lo and behold, you've beat me to it! You've already replied. Thanks Tig! It works!

Some standard options in native SketchUp: moving an edge (p) along its own direction over a certain inputted distance or by grabbing any of its point, even one of its endpoints or midpoint ....towards its intersection with the plane of a face (F) (grabbed point will then be in plane of (F)). moving an edge along any (s) edge's direction over a certain inputted distance or towards the chosen plane perpendicular to (s). The plane is perpendicular to (s) and uses any inference point to determine this plane. extending an edge along its own direction (by grabbing an one of its endpoints) over a certain inputted distance or towards (p)'s intersection with the plane of any face or. (grabbed endpoint will then be in plane of (F))

I'm not an expert, but this construction is a very common one for energy saving houses. It it important that there is a good air tightness leve so that no humidity gets into the wall.

Thank you for your comments! @alvis: now that I see your sticks I noticed that my spheres are too small in comparison to the sticks. I'm not able to make trinagles this way Next time, I will search for real ones before modeling...

@olishea said: Yeah phone's used to be fashionably small. I love small phones. Remember the old Nokia 8210? Now they're becoming bricks with huge screens. I understand the smartphone revolution and need for a bigger screen, but would be nice to see equivalent mini phones again. I still believe this is one of the best looking and most practical phones around. Plus it was TINY!! [image: nokia8210.jpg] agreed! that and lack of style too... nowadays its all about the bigger screen, cause the phone isnt made for phone calls anymore, but for games and internet my choice? i use a simple non-smart phone for calls and a tablet for the rest the best one i had, was this one, though.. super-light, super-thin, i had battery for a week and i droped it like a 1000 times, and the thing never broke [image: lhef_1024px-Motorola_RAZR_V3i_03.JPG]
