You can't right now. If you want someone else to get the sound file, post it on the forum or somewheres else, and tell them to go get it ๐Ÿ˜†

      Nice one!
I don't use V-ray, but there's quite a few on the forum that do, and I'll bet there'll be some that could give you some pointers ๐Ÿ˜‰

...They can not be set to ignore, or they will ignore everything. You're best bet is o make them boxes, not ignored, than to add a breakable joint with low strength to the middle part, and attach the pieces to it, so they don't break before they hit the ground.

An example of what I mean is this Etch-e-Sketch thing I made. It uses worm gears, but should I really need them?

Arrow keys to move, space to draw.

Great point, i think it can be done, using gears, but if you do that, SketchUp and SketchyPhysics may suffer an application crash.

Not really, look at the example (found on the warehouse, or download from link)
It's not a real etch-e-sketch, because I'd need to be able to input a key to get rid of the emitters, and I can't do that. So they last for 3000 frames.

Also, for moving/complex objects, worm gears are sometimes just not possible. I was trying to set up a movable camera for something, but there was no way I could include worm gears (well, no way without adding extra weight to the object, which I couldn't do)

    • Piston and slider are the same, but I think...

...That there should be a different kind of slider. The piston disappoints me, because it does all the same things as the slider, but with controls already there when you use it. I'd like to see one that moves up or down with a set speed, like motor is to hinge as ______ is to slider/piston. I'd like to see this, because certain movements are impossible with keyboard controls and sliders at the moment. Try making a claw machine (like at an arcade), controllable with keyboard input. It can be done, but won't work right, because the keys= max/min values. No in-between. Only work around for now is a slider control, or a worm gear (that's what they're called, right?)

    • RE: Least used function of SU

I use metric (inches confuse me), and actually use flip along axis quite often, as well as fog and styles (I think half of my models have their own styles...). Oh, and use sun for shading. More realistic, no slower.

      My least used functions would be;
      tape measurer
      protractor
      the zoom tools
      eraser (I probably should...)
      and section cuts.

    • RE: Overly dark renders, and etcetera

More stuff, including old/ new renders, and progress i did on that robot thing. Forgot about it for a while. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Oh, and a sketchyphysics game: http://sketchup.google.com:80/3dwarehouse/download?mid=bfd21efedcc2b867ffa95f224611fcb6&rtyp=s7&fn=HELI+attack2&ctyp=sm&ts=1238807705000
      You fly a helicopter.
      A/D=turn
      W/S=thrust
      left/right=roll
      up/down=tilt (forwards, backwards)
R/F=tilt gun (can't see, unless shooting)
      spacebar=shoot
Other than that, the game should be self explanatory.

(Render from old progress I didn't post before)
(scene from that halo-style model I posted earlier. Didn't turn out too well... Pretty ugly, don't know why I'm posting it...)

...As you can see, It's possible to save bandwidth (that's what it's called, right?) by hosting models/ examples on the 3D warehouse, than adding the download link. ๐Ÿ˜† I just figured that out a little while ago.

...Yeah, I meant making the logo in sketchup, than making it distortable, than dropping the pencil on it, and pausing when the house is half way broken. I tried making the house and pencil, and was very close to how it actually looks, but I forgot to save, and sketchup "Quit Unexpectedly" ๐Ÿ˜ก

...and remember: plugins and rubies are a great way to make modeling faster and easier, and most of them are free. Also, if you ever want to render anything, may I suggest kerkythea? It's free, easy to use, and can acheive great results.

All those are sketchup models, rendered with kerkythea.
(If the pictures take up too much space, I'll remove some. Just giving you some ideas/ inspiration)

...So true. I couldn't use the internet for a while when I made my last WIP, once I could get back on, I 'accidentally' forgot about it. Good thing I'm not a professional sketchup user, because I never get anything done ๐Ÿคฃ

If it's not, it's something you can do with photoshop and a depth map made with kerkythea or another renderer, or from a sketchup scene with black fog and certain settings.

I figured out how to make a no-rotate gyro! You use two... only downside is that you have to start rotated to 45 degrees pointing down; this immediately chages though.

no, you don't have to. this helicopter uses 2 gyros to keep part of the flying mechanism in it's orientation:
