Even from Alpha to current versions is a huge gap. If you're new to it, It could be difficult to learn

RE: SketchyPhysics3 Release Candidate 1
Miss a few days, and get left in the dust... So much can change in a week!
...oh, on mac, after installation, why do I get the message
%(#FF0000)[Error Loading File sketchyphysics.rb
no such file to load -- dl]I must have done SOMETHING wrong... tried it twice to no avail...

RE: [Plugin]SketchyPhysics3 beta.
By the way, doesn't he mean mac alpha 2? Or am I not keeping up with what's going on?

RE: [REQ] Create a Seamless Mat
Bump map for tomsdesk's texture.

Don't know how well the shading tiles, or if it is even in the right file type (probably not). -
RE: [Plugin]SketchyPhysics3 beta.
...What I think he was talking about is the fact that, when the control pannel is selected, and you use keyboard input (w,a,s,d for the most part), the mac's "alert sound" goes off, and if the key is held, repeats. It can get quite annoying...

...If that's not what he was talking about, I might aswell have mentioned that anyways, even though you probably already knew about it.

SP3:
- Variables that stay between frames
- Global variables, that can be changed by any formula box to affect any other
- Multi-line formula boxes (Maybe drop-down, to save space?)
- Allow gyro to stop an object rotating (checkbox)
- Damp settings for ball and universal joints
- Allow the keyboard controls to work without the control panel being highlighted
for 6): I doubt it would be possible, it's not that the keyboard controls don't work when the control panel isn't selected, they do, it's just that if you have the sketchup window selected, certain keys (like a and s) will also work as shortcuts to tools, and when clicked, end the simulation.

RE: Shaping a cylinder - interesting technique
Ah! My post is gone.
...Now a shorter rewrite...
I think what's happening, and maybe what Pilou's trying to say, is that the ends of the arcs are stationary, and the arc has to stay and arc, and therefore the area selected can't rotate, because it can't deform the arc. So you're trying to rotate something that can't be rotated. I don't know exactly why it expands the arc, maybe it's trying too hard to have it rotate, and the only place for it to move is up.

RE: Where'd my thread go?
I had responded too, but my post was gone, and I didn't save the original demonstration model I posted. Anyways, the problem is that you have the spring settings at 200 damp, with no accel.
To explain it: accel represents how strong the spring bounces back, and damp, how much it's dampened, so it doesn't go back and forth constantly. You also only need one spring.
So get rid of a spring, and set accel from 100-200, and damp from 10-20, on both sides. Here's the example I posted last time, but I edited it a bit, and didn't save the normal one. All I did was fix the springs, and I added another set of wheels to the vehicle, and added controls. arrow keys steer.

A couple hours and...
...So the forum was down for a few hours i guess, not that much of an issue, but I see some people got creative about what they'd do about it.

RE: Sketchup compatible free or almost free 3d scanner
Cool!
The lego one seems a bit slow though. As for the resulting shape of the laser scanner, they should use Whaat's polyreduce plugin

RE: How long till we get this?
Oh, it would divide them like zorro...
Where it brakes though, would it make a new face on the resulting objects, where it broke?
Yes....and if you broke a hexagonal prism set as a cylinder, would it make the resulting pieces automatically convexhulls, or divide the collision geometry too?
Good question! It would make them convexhulls. So it wouldnt be perfect. -
RE: How long till we get this?
Uhhh... C.Phillips... Did you edit my post and answer my questions inside it?
(I just edited it and made the text that I didn't write a different colour)...Oh, another question: if a hole is blown out of an object (if that could happen), would it divide the rest of the object into other convexhulls that are still attached, or just break them apart?

cheers i guess, thanks for trying
You can get fairly random movement if you type in something like
oscillator(60)+oscillator(379)*oscillator(-515)+oscillator(223)*oscillator(725)That's just an example, I don't know exactly how well it would work. The point is, if you type in random numbers, plus other random numbers, at speeds varied by other random numbers, the results will be nothing short of random. Well, almost. After a while it would loop.

RE: How long till we get this?
...how would that work? Would it use pre-made meshes to intersect with objects then divide them into separate parts that form their own convexhulls?
...Or am I insane?

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
...I look at the thread, but don't respond, because I've seen tons of cars already, and although I think they're really nice, and extremely detailed( I myself barely even have the patience to spend more than a few hours on one model)
I'm just plain too lazy to leave comments for them all, so I just don't respond to them
...In some aspects, I do agree with Ray too.

RE: All known scripts
I thought It would be possible with a math.sin script!
Thanks!
...Now anyone here want to explain how to use math.sin, or math.cos, or any other scripts of that type, so I can customize it? -
RE: Paint groups or component projected
Are you asking if you can paint the components differently from each other?
If so, I doubt it. As far as I know, All of the same components must be completely Identical.
If you're asking if you can project a texture from outside a component without opening it, I don't think so either, but don't know.
If it's something else, I have no idea. -
RE: How does this window work? ;)
Yes, but the difference is that, no matter how you scale it (the dynamic component), the hole will be circular, and the same size.

RE: You won't believe it.. but it is true :)
I can see it either way if I want to. I even tried to see if I could get it to do half turns and reverse, So it looks like it's facing away, then does a half turn and faces you, then another half turn the other direction, and faces you again, as if it had never changed. and it worked. Creepy...
