So what's all the fuss about then !!! But seriously, I get it. Thanks again Tig. Thankfully I don't have to mess with Autocad and its relatives very often. And once Layout is up to speed, I doubt many others will have to either. Baz

Hi RTD, I don't think a 'smoother' mouse is going to help, it seems the zoom thing is what it is. I will often copy components off a ways to work on them, then hide them, which causes the zoom prob. From now on, I will separate the model into different files and bring them together at the end. As for 'lost in space', I use the 'Previous' function (just below 'Zoom extents'), which will step you back five views. I use it so often I have a shortcut for it. Baz

That's not entirely true Tig, I taught that too, my car was valued at €8000 3yrs ago, and even tho it was insured at that insurance company's only pay out what the car is valued at now, I baught my BMW when the economy was booming, but since the resession hit the value of high powered petrol cars decreassed bringing the value of my car down to €2500 on the market today, this is why I only got this much, it's a joke and I totally agree that the person who was not at fault should not be out of pocket but it doesn't work that way, ideally it should but both persons suffer financially no matter what, believe me iv just gone threw it all, I say again insurance is only a sticker on your window.

@ Baz, unfortunately I do not have anything digital to show, I had it back in the day of real film (some in old spools still undeveloped) It was a 1984 Rare Cobalt CS 23 (Ski N fish) @ Dave, That day we did not get a chance to go onboard as there was a film crew there doing a history of beer segment (History on tap)...I know... "what does beer and the mayflower have in common" you ask. Well apparently there is a challenge for beer makers to create a beer that the pilgrims made/drank and the reason the Mayflower came to Plymouth is apparently because they ran out of beer and made a detour to get supplies and ended up there. @chris fullmer said: Why not just tell them to come use the forum for questions. Is there really a need to differentiate them from any other beginner who comes and visits? Hi chris, dylan the only thing I am trying to achieve is to keep track of my students, I agree that differentation is not necessary or desirable. And i certainly want them to have the advantage of all the members knowledge here. Csaba has set up a ug for me, I'll see how that goes. I'm still thinking that just starting a thread might be the simplist solution. baz

@wind-borne said: Initially, I will be looking at Lux for estimates of losses due to shading as program does face calculation if I understand the static reading. LightUp Insolation rendering gives 3 readings: A spot Kwh/m^2/day for the exact position from which you're taking the reading. (Static) A Face reading of Kwh/day (ie scaled by the area of the face). This is useful if you model panels with a single face. (Tracked) A Face reading of Kwh/day assuming the face tracks the sun (and is therefore more efficient). Adam

Thanks Tom, I think Ive worked it out, Ive been a bit lazy with component axis til now.... Re the fires: we are ok here, but about 50 miles away its horrific, death tool is now 220 and climbing, several small towns have literally ceased to exist, places that I know, I'm having trouble getting my head around it. I was in the 'Ash Wednesday' fires of '83 where we had a firestorm moving at 68mph, what happened on Sunday was worse, people just did not have time to get away. And it's not over yet. baz The Age newspaper has the full story. http://www.theage.com.au/
