A mate asked this question on another forum but got no reply. I have no idea about this stuff, any ideas about what's going wrong for him?

"Ok I drew some items in sketchup in 3d that I want cut on a cnc laser. They needed them in 2d. So I selected standard camera view "top" then used the section plane tool then exported a section slice in .DWG format. Problem is my .skp file is 600x700mm but after export the .DWG file is 600x700 inchs what Am I doing wrong?"

The 2d exports to CAD formats are always in 'inches'. It assumes you are using these DWG/DXF files as 'graphics' when the size is unimportant.
The 3d exports to CAD formats are in the current model's units. You then need to advise the recipient what units you were using so that they know that a '1.0' in the DWG/DXF is 1mm or 1cm or 1m or 1" etc...
