The weird thing happened that my vary proxy item turn transparent in the render image. I though there is no way to edit the proxy item in the vray material editor. Since the proxy is just fragmented polygon floating in air. It will be nice if it's true.

No. You can edit the segments of a circle, but not the cylinder. If you look at entity info of a circle you can change the segments but not when it's been extruded. Artisan plugin has a tool called "reduce polygons" where you can set the % of reduction. But it won't give you the results you desire on a normal cylinder, works better for a quad/tri mesh as does everything subdivision related.

That is a good trick. I find that is often useful to have the CAD layers intact, in addition to having the CAD group on a layer that can be turned on/off.

Welcome! If you look for the DC sub-forum I think there are several discussions in there about this. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewforum.php?f=289 E.G. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=31393&p=281641&hilit=door#p281641 Also links to some example DCs in the 3d-warehouse that do this type of on-click animation too...
