Here's my guess at last. If you look at the plan below the roof model, I started using the rear slope (7:12) to complete the front high roof as indicated in previous posts. However I thought this looked worse so I changed it in the model to be 12:12 all sides of the front high roof. I also dropped the garage roof eave in the model, as I think this makes the symmetrical part work better. However that requires that you push the door wall of the garage out a little (no big deal), so the resulting roof works with the master bedroom roof. I left the "terrace" uncovered. I think that is a better design and creates the roof ridge of the central 7:12 in accordance with the elevation (not so high). Besides the plan has a dotted line at the "porch" indicating it is covered perhaps and the "terrace" is not. I scaled off the graphic and I think my roof is scaled different than yours, but the concept is there. The top of the high front roof is not to be flat really. You'd have a low slope in four directions, but you'd not see it really. Or a skylight with a dramatic shaft in the great room. OK-- so I see in yours the high pitch is only on two sides, that makes the ridge for the front element work. That looks pretty good. I wonder though if you can make the lower roof each side of that have more ridge and be symmetrical, plan allowing, to create a better visual support for the high roof. Good luck. I know this off topic (broadly defined), but it may help you to know that some PDF's produced from CAD programs can sometimes be retrieved in vectors / layers. I've used Inkscape for this, in the past. The results usually need some clean-up, but its often a good start point.

Pbacot, You observation of the 16Th of an inch dimensions is a keen one. Normally I do not dimension to that degree of accuracy. In this case however, we are the builder, and the field dimensions were taken by me and the drawing of the stone is actually the size that it will be cut to. The Stone supplier may choose to adjust slightly if it makes sense to them to do so, but this gives them an accurate starting point. Also, math does not lie. If I take an existing overall measurement and need a certain equal number of divisions within that measurement and it comes out at xx 1/16", so be it. The guys in the field will laugh, call me an idiot, discuss what color the sky is in my world, and then make it happen, but they will at least have an accurate plan to start with. I absolutely agree that the craftsman should be shown what we want, not how to get there. Especially when dealing in such artistic mediums as interior cut stone and Finish carpentry. The good ones are artists! Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I will post finished photos. ]p

It's not the nesting, the component bends perfectly on my system. Select the component, hit the bending tool, select the straight line on the red axes, it should turn blue, then select the curve, it turns blue. Wait a bit and you get the blue and green formers, when they are the way you want, hit enter. And wait. [image: QNxd_Bent.JPG]

Yes, everything is about "inferencing" in SketchUp. Here is a list (simple search results) of some tutorials Dave mentioned on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sketchup+inferencing&aq=f This is probably the most powerful feature of SU so you should really get a good grip of it.

hmm... Z-co-ordinate elevation in the VCB... that plugin must have passed me... it would not be difficult to do - but would there be any functional difference?

I would indeed suggest some online things (especially if he is so busy). In Skype, it is easy to share windows (screens) and should he have any problems after watching those tutorial videos, he could still get some help with his issues. (BTW - ThomThom has a birthday, guys!) [image: xEWL_ScreenShare.png]
