Web apps use platform-independent, uncompiled Javascript code which has in general far less performance than compiled code (which only runs on a certain hardware platform and a certain operating system). As to the place where the application runs, I think that depends: Google Docs and GMail continue working even if you remove the network connection. In spreadsheets, you still have the full feature set of calculating, formatting, sorting and resizing cells. If you watch your CPU load, you'll see that such simple tasks in pure javascript are a bit more demanding than they would be in normal desktop applications. Ressource-intensive tasks (file format conversions, video processing, rendering etc.) and search requests are done by the server. On the other side, if everything was done on server side, people would ask to use such apps also when they don't have a network connection available. What I personally like is the platform-independence which allows to use any operating system you prefer, including operating systems that run equally on very old and new hardware. It's quite bizarre that we move towards slow, uncompiled code, but browsers continue improving performance (and modern browsers internally compile/optimize the code for the specific platform).

ah yes, that's the PMnotifications you get when a new post is approved (only newly registered members). I would say leave the option for admins to email you. This means that if you subscribe to your own topic or you get a PM, you will receive an automated notification. I am too lazy to send you emails (and if I really want, that option cannot really stop me as I have access to your email address). If we want to send out board emails, we now use a reliable, 3rd party service. If we send out something from here, that can only be in case of emergency (like the site hacked and an important warning to everyone to change passwords or similar).

I am on a windows 7 64bit machine and I opened 4 sessions at the same time and got NO expired warning and no lag. Scott

You can also use the built-in Offset Tool on two or move preselected edges and type in an amount to offset a copy OR offset all of the edges of a selected face by an amount. Use the boundingbox plugin, and add an X on the bottom of the box. Group everything and then reposition the center point of the X on the origin (it's a clickable point).

I'm sure you have already tried sandbox that last picture look like you did. Sandbox is very flexible for creating those organic shapes with triangles. Then you can tweak each one later. I have used sanbox to create organic walls or floors. Hope this helps

Arrg and I looked at that more than once so, you do the other direction.. FYI use the stray line and ThomThom's tools and apply multiple times. I had 9 areas I had to fix by hand, about a 3' effort and the face formed by itself!

That's OK - your post made me fix a minor issue with nested components... For the avoidance of doubt... The default punch-depth of 20"/500mm should suit most set ups. If you make it mush bigger it might clash with other things in the model. If you make it too small it might not punch right through thicker walls. The punched hole is either the punch depth OR to the inner face of the wall you are working on IF it is less or equal to the punch depth. If you have a range of walls 4/6/8/10/12/16" then a 20" setting will work for all of them, with no need to change anything. If you suddenly have a 'castle' with a wall that's ~40" thick you can change the setting temporarily to allow for that...

Ah well, it is not only "pretty" but was quite fast, too! (The moving of the letters up/down was an excellent trick, too).

Oh my mistake, I'm seeing this is for photomatch. Yeah, those kinds of pics are not setup for photomatch. I was thinking he was just trying to match it up manually.
