Becca, could you post a screen shot of what you're seeing? Are the components you're importing "Face Me" components? If so and you don't want them to have Face Me behavior, you can select the component from the In Model component library, right click on it and edit the properties to untick the Always face camera box.

MaterialConsolidator is probably the best tool ever to get rid of redundant materials. There are two ways to apply a material, either by using the paint bucket (which changes the UVs) or by selecting the faces and choosing a different material from the entity info. As for my experience this preserves the UVs.

Just did a test on a sphere with 15K faces, rendered in Twilight on High with a porcelain template applied. Rendered by it's self with one sketchup open -- 48 sec. Same sphere copied to a second sketchup and both rendering simultaneously - both finished in 1 min 20 seconds. Twilight showed both sessions using all 8 cores in my machine. Whether rendering one scene or both, cpu was maxed out. Not sure, but on a lower spec'd machine, perhaps turning down the priority setting when trying to render two sessions simultaneously could help prevent a bottleneck in the ram. (My specs are i7 960 CPU, 12 GB of ram, Nvidia GTX 560ti GPU, running on an Asus Rampage III extreme mobo.)

As for the windows, here are some steps I generally put a Gothic window quickly together. Without any further explanation - so if you have questions, refer to the image numbers... Just one note; at the end of the "tutorial", we end up with a window (see also attached) whose outer part is there but if you want to get it to cut both faces of a thick wall, some further steps are needed. I have Microsoft documentation on replacing the motherboard and re-installing XP. So far I have done a few conversion things, such as: getting my wireless router back up with a new host MAC addr; Redefining the default printer (temporary) and reading my mail on Yahoo rather than Thunderbird. I am waiting for an answer from NVIDIA regarding how this affects the display drivers, where my HD has an ATI driver and the PC has an NVIDIA card installed.

Sorry I realise that was a bit unlcear. The Pachube link was a community project and despite my asking thr CTO (!) not supported. They do have a Ruby API to pull data from the feed and that is supported I was really hoping that someone might know of a plug in or a project that did something similar, anything took some variables in a Ruby script and applied them to a series of solids in sketchup - to vary height etc proportional to the variable would be very helpful, and we could probably build on that to connect it into Pachube. Hi Phil, There may be several problems with 3ds. First of all, make sure that you do not display back faces and all your materials are applied on front faces only. Then also make sure that your material names are no longer than 8 characters (although the exporter may handle this automatically). And of course, there may be other issues as well - I do not use c4d so am not sure.

Thank you (he says condescendingly) very much for that. Saving as a dae file did not work, but File>Export then choosing 2D not 3D enabled me to export it as a jpeg. It is so quick and easy to rotate different views and closeup detail work.
