Dynamic elements in a sketchup model from a Pachube data fee
-
Hi
We are having great difficulty working out how to implement dynamic (as in elements that change size on one axis) based on data contained in a pachube feed.
We want to create a dynamic view of the energy use in a factory by adding bar graph elements to the models of the machinery in the factory, that pull data on their current energy use from a pachube
(http://www.pachube.com) data feed. The view of the factory wirth this data would then be saved out as an image and used in real time displays in the factory to try and help people reduce the energy that they use. This has previously been implemented (http://community.pachube.com/ sketchup ) but does not seem to work any more
Any help or pointers towards similar projects to make sketchup dynamic would be much appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Wouldn't this be better address to 'pachube' ?
They write the API that's linking into Sketchup, so know it better than we will...
They should have some sort of support setup ??
If you have any clues at all we'll try to help... but telling us that a third-party add-on "does not seem to work any more"... is like telling Columbo someone has been murdered - but omitting the vital who, what, where, when, how and why clues... -
Sorry I realise that was a bit unlcear. The Pachube link was a community project and despite my asking thr CTO (!) not supported. They do have a Ruby API to pull data from the feed and that is supported
I was really hoping that someone might know of a plug in or a project that did something similar, anything took some variables in a Ruby script and applied them to a series of solids in sketchup - to vary height etc proportional to the variable would be very helpful, and we could probably build on that to connect it into Pachube.
Any help much appreciated
Chris
