@joe depok said: hellooo .... after such uninstall & install .. finally I can use the round corner success .... I again follow the instruction include the "permission" for the plugin folder. thank you thank youuuu ... but ....it seems that after I update mysketchup program I found that my cursor is not pointed on the right place... for example I want to point the angle . normally I just point my cursor on it and it will snap on the angle.. but now i have to put my cursor somewhere around it to get the snap .. oh my god.... hi joe, it seems you may have a corrupt .plist file.. it's possible that all of the uninstall/reinstalls may be the culprit (the sketchup plist files will not remove themselves upon a typical unistall..) you have to trash them manually. try this: --close sketchup --click on finder in the dock --click the 'go' menu at the top of the screen --hold down the option key --a new menu item named 'library' will appear under the go menu (this is the user library-- click on it) --open the folder named 'preferences' --find the file 'com.google.sketchuppro8' (or whatever version you're using) -- trash the file then launch sketchup edit- please note** trashing the .plist file then restarting sketchup will create a new .plist... however, all settings will be at default so it will appear as if you've launched sketchup for the first time (welcome screen, standard template, etc)

@unknownuser said: When's the next Basecamp? Good question. We don't know right now, but given that our plan is to move to an annual release cycle starting next year, and that conferences are a great way to celebrate product launches, we'll do our best to make sure there's a 3D Basecamp in 2013. Source: A recap of SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012 sounds more like second half of 2013. Norbert

Your own subfolder of SKM material files [NOT image files ] needs to go into the main Sketchup .../Materials folder. If you don't have FULL security rights to that folder then it might look like your subfolder has been put in there... but the dreaded 'Compatibility Files...' link button in the main Explorer Window's header-bar is a clue that something is adrift... Windows has put stuff into a Virtual store to protect you from yourself... You need to ensure that there is FULL security rights [for all] to several folders in the Sketchup folder - Materials, AND Plugins, Styles and Components - because each of those will, at some pint need files adding into them... These access-rights should also trickle down to all of these folders' contents, including any subfolders too...

Karl We can discuss the limitations of Sketchup for hours and still have the same dilemma, how about working around the limitation? I suggest getting a bigger toolbox, different software for different needs. Sketchup being the first app you use to design the buildings you need and depending what the client requires it can also be the only tool you use if basic design is the desired result or a basic animation. However if you want to achieve a photo real render or animation with lots of vegetation I'd suggest using an app that can support proxy's or a 3rd party app like Vue, Thea or Lumion for renders and animations where you can add geometry to your hearts content without fear of crash.

I have to regrettably confess that I do not use Outliner either. The only time I open it is when there is a question about it in the forums.

Ramzez Welcome. SCF IS a very liberal forum. It is dedicated to all things related to SketchUp... Plus some 'silliness' in the Corner-bar now and again. We will welcome anything you show us relating to your use of SketchUp, and even the more obtuse construction techniques like bales, roofs etc... We will also try to help you to achieve these goals... But please be aware that extreme view points or protracted polemic will not be tolerated by Moderators in any of the open forums - so don't get dragged into debates on Raelism, or for that matter any 'extreme-views' - no matter how 'true' they might seem to you - like Atheism, Christianity, Islam, Creationism or a hundred and one other things that others will ultimately take issue against - whilst these ideas might be central to ones life they are not suitable fodder for debate here at SCF... there are many other places where these can be freely aired and argued ad nauseam... My preemptive warning-shot over your bows is now completed... It's no every day that a Raelian joins SCF so openly - so I at least welcome your candor about that. So, I hope you will become a useful member of this community; and give and learn in equal measure. **Bienvenue.

And the sheet needs to be as long as the curve . I did it with shape bender for the attached device . You can do it manually though if you divide the sheet in 24 segments equal with the length of the circle's segments and then you rotate all the segments of the sheet to match the circle . What do your styles have to do with textures? What face style have you chosen for your new styles?

I suspect that the ball is not centered in its bounding box cube. If the axis reference is away from any edge, the ball will not rotate on its centroid. It will rotate on the centroid of the bounding box. As a solution you can explode the ball and then create a new comp. That will place the ball in the center of the bounding box. Rotation using the Move tool (on any of the 24 rotation pick points) will rotate the ball on its centroid.

John, I was thinking about the same thing. It is a much better tool for designing boat hulls. I've used it a few times and it would be my choice over SketchUp for its intended purpose.

If I had to do it, I would: Draw my rolling hills inside a group, totally separate from the city grid. Then I'd move it directly underneath the city. Then I would drape the city roads onto the terrain. Do this part in small increments as it is quite likely it will crash sketchup a lot. So grab about a blow worth of the city terrain and drape it. If it doesn't crash, save the file, then move on to the next block. If it does crash, open the model and try doing only half the block. Then once all the roads and parcels are draped, I would use drop.rb from http://www.smustard.com to drop all the building straight down onto the terrain. Many will end up with corners showing above the terrain, so then move them down the rest of the way until they are entirely hidden. This will not work as easily as I describe if your buildings have entry doors and such as they could end up partially buried. Anyhow, that's how I do it. Good luck! Chris

2 hints for zorro2: use with CTRL to slice all subgroubs and components use right click on section plane to slice with this plane ("Slice Model at Section") (so 15 minutes are too long )
