Hi my name is Ramzez
Just got myself Sketchup Pro 8
While researching bale house construction and reciprocal roof designs, I saw a youtube video demonstrating reciprocal roofs using Sketchup. I thought it was pretty cool.
I am in the process to move to Costa Rica where I wish to build low cost housing with local materials.
I am very good with computers and working with my hands. Sketchup seems to be the perfect design tool.

Thanks for the introduction to the reciprocal roof. I was unfamiliar with its name, though I have seen images of it before. Really quite beautiful.
Are you thinking straw bale and cob for your projects?

I look forward to seeing some interesting projects. I wonder what materials would be used in Costa Rica? Straw is probably less abundant but they do have animals, so there must be something
. Not needing insulation as much as ventilation at lower altitudes.Don't forget a good resource: recycle. I lived in Hawaii and perhaps the most green (and durable) materials we used were old cane shack vertical grain Douglas fir and old water tank redwood. We also had bamboo.

SCF IS a very liberal forum.
It is dedicated to all things related to SketchUp...
Plus some 'silliness' in the Corner-bar now and again.We will welcome anything you show us relating to your use of SketchUp, and even the more obtuse construction techniques like bales, roofs etc...
We will also try to help you to achieve these goals...But please be aware that extreme view points or protracted polemic will not be tolerated by Moderators in any of the open forums - so don't get dragged into debates on Raelism, or for that matter any 'extreme-views' - no matter how 'true' they might seem to you - like Atheism, Christianity, Islam, Creationism or a hundred and one other things that others will ultimately take issue against - whilst these ideas might be central to ones life they are not suitable fodder for debate here at SCF... there are many other places where these can be freely aired and argued ad nauseam...

It's no every day that a Raelian joins SCF so openly - so I at least welcome your candor about that.So, I hope you will become a useful member of this community; and give and learn in equal measure.
