Take a look around the forum. There are many discussions about renderers. I expect you'll find them to be helpful. As to which one is best for you, there's probably no one answer at least that anyone else can give you. You'll have to sort out that question for yourself. Everyone will have opinions but there's no one best choice here.

I've been happy with Kerkythea which is free. YMMV.

Hi Task, you should look at this post just a few posts down from yours in the newbie forum "Have you ever done a poll on render software" the questions you are asking is quite well covered there
              Cheers

Here is the 32-bit version and here is the 64-bit boost version (still a release candidate). Install one depending on your system.
Here you can find the plugin for Sketchup.
You have to install both: the application and the plugin.
Finally I strongly recommend to read this one before starting to play with the renderer.

Notice V-Ray for SketchUp is only available in North America, Central America and the Caribbean Islands. Or you'll have to find a reseller within your region. It's also quite expensive.
But most renders I've seen offer demos, incl. Maxwell, V-ray, LightUp, Twilight and Shaderlight.
So try before you buy 😄

The answer is simple to say but takes effort to do.

Download demo/trial versions of the software you think would be best, try them and the one you enjoy the most is the right one for you.

Now that you enjoy using the app you will play with it more which means you will learn more, the more you learn the better you will get.

Make the JPG a texture applied to a face in SketchUp. It'll export then.

Likely you can just explode the image and it'll become a texture applied to a surface.

Yes explode the image and try again. Another issue could be that your materials, textures or path names contain some special characters like for example ' " ö ä å. Kerkythea uses xml as file format and can't handle those kind of characters.
