Thank you. I added a line beneath the sill. I realized that I had made my component mostly of groups and I don't think that they help describe the cutting plane. I had a hell of a time working out the axes for the first time, even after watching videos. Now have a usable window. Right, Once I got the component to cut, instead of punching the hole with push-pull, there was nothing at the jambs. I added that in the component too. Fun but time consuming at first (this SU program is). I think I have most of the questions answered, the rest will fall into place. Thanks Again!

It's quite odd that Google hasn't pushed this more but maybe they are watching for a while to see how it works... Or they are just implementing this "routinely" now for all their online services... Or - and that's where my earlier comment came from - they are going to make this a major part of SU7 (direct synchronizing and versioning - and maybe other "social" features) and are waiting for an announcement there... Or maybe there's just an innovation-fatigue with Google where people just don't notice all the new features anymore...

if I remember well, the width and heigth of your frames must be multiplies of 4: this means that the codec can compress a 800 x 600 PX video, but not a 807 x 603 one. Some codecs require a multiply of 8. I'd use a DVX or Xvid codec: they allow you fast compression and good quality. [/matteo]

@watkins said: Dear Paris, I would draw my square and make it a group. I would then draw my post/spindle at one corner of the square and then make it a component. I would then move and copy the post the required spacing, and then use *N to repeat the move/copy N times. Lastly, I would rotate/copy the array around the centre of the square to complete the four sides. Rotate 90 dgrees first, and then enter *3 to complete the square. Regards, Bob Thx Bob, It didn't occur to me to rotate within a square.

@alan fraser said: Hans, In answer to your email,yYou can select whether you want go use an image as an image or a texture after you have selected File > Import. The image options re on the right of the dialog box, under the Preview window. You can't divide an image into parts in SketchUp, you can only choose to project the image onto an object that is too small to display it all. If you were then to scale the object bigger, the rest of the image would appear. The method is as I described above...import the image nd scale it to the size of the wall....then explode it, then group it to keep the geometry separate from the next stages. Draw a brick aligned with, for instance, the top left corner of the imported image, group it, then duplicate that group to create the rest of the wall...again lined up with the imported image. You can then sample the image and paint it, brick by brick, onto all of the different groups. Alternatively, you could simply divide the exploded image into many rectangles using the line tool. You can then group each rectangle separately and move them around. I hope this is now clear Thanks Alan. Now is it clear to me. Hans

Hi Alan, Yes, that was the problem. I thought I had already scaled to the correct size and didn't think to check that. Thanks for helping me solve this. Regards Mr S

It is too bad that we can't snap to end and mid points with just faces showing. This on its own with display of lines not connected to mesh, could be a mode that would be very Open GL friendly.

@hazza said: @hazza said: Then right click again -> Rotate - > 90 (or 270) .... and if you have multiple faces that need rotating: click off the face so that the coloured pins disappear but the face is still selected, click the "eye dropper" in the materials dialog box, sample the rotated face, click any other face that needs it's texture rotated. ...and here I have been using Sketchup since 2002 and I never knew! I could have saved so much time in the past. This program rocks (usually)!! Thanks for this.
