Hi Sonder, all measurements in Su were entered via the VCB, the drawings are 2d in plan view, so no "~"s in SU.
However just tried to reproduce this in a new drawing but all fine. But have discovered I need to have 'Autoscale' on in LO and everthing comes right. I've no idea why, I've checked the help files on this, but it's all beyond my poor brain.
But problem solved I guess, thanks for your help.

Make sure you have saved the style you want and have it set with the scene update, and saved the SU file. In LO set the reference to the Scene.

Another issue might cause the style not to be set correctly== if your scene is set NOT to remember styles.

    Hello mwm5053:

Step # 1: You create your door and window table in Word and make and Excel's sheet, Work in this sheet.
Step # 2: save format. RTF
Step # 3: import the table into LO

    voila ¡¡

(You can edit the data in the shedule)

    I hope this helps you

    Regards

If you are using SU as your plan reference and your doors are components, LO will recognize the CP. I dimension all my windows and doors to the CP and it works great. Your effort will be further simplified if you draw a threshold / sill.

Yeah there is no easy way. Though at least you can setup a flip shortcut! flip all the text to the opposite then select each and flip.

Don't use "Hide". Use layer control. Just setup layers for things you want to see or hide. Then set the layer control within each scene. The individual scenes in SU will remember the layer routine so you don't have to.

Could it be an issue of the scale of the SU model (size of image) in Layout?

Jeff, I'll look into what you say about Preview, but the file size issue remains. I think one part may be taking a vector image in one app as opposed to a raster image in another and directly making a pdf of them.

I have not tried taking either png or pdf from my CAD directly to LO. I think I wouldn't be able to scale as easily as I can in SU (using tape measure tool).

In the "good" example above I have to take the background into CAD and scale that. Sloppy.

Maybe hidden geometry. Make sure it is unchecked in the saved view.

The way I do it is to set the axes so the red axis is set to your required "horizontal", right click on one of the axes lines and then select "Align View". The model should then position on screen to the red/green plane. Zoom to where you want and save as a new scene for import to LO.

Yes, that is exactly what I do. Works really well.

And may I ask you what do you do when you need to put height dimensions of this sort (attached)?
So far I haven't found them in SketchUp nor in LayOut.

In layout, use the stock scrapbooks or create your own.

    OK, thanks, Nick. 😄
I knew that. I was just curious if I missed some other way, more automatic like in the case of usual dimensional work. In this way you need to type height values yourself.
Luckily, there's not much of manual work here since usual construction documentation doesn't require so many of those symbols or at least requires much less than typical dimensions.

P.S. Your videos on YouTube are fantastic and I have just found out on other topic that you got even better working machine. 😄

2022 and I am having the same problem as OP. I've read two threads on this but can't find an answer that works. I've attached a one-page version of my file with all images, viewports, and file links removed to reduce file size.

    LAYOUT SETTINGS:

    Document Setup/Paper: 11" w x 8.5" h

Document Setup/Paper: 1/4" margins all around

Page Setup/Format for: I tried "Any Printer" and "Canon MX470 Series", which is the only printer I have. I also went through all the settings for my printer and don't see anything saying, print off center. And nothing else does prints off center, just Layout.

Page Setup: US Letter. I tried portrait and landscape (why are these even options since I set height and width in doc setup?).

    EXPORT ATTEMPTS:

Exported to PDF (my normal process): output skewed to left. Screenshot of output and of PDF export options attached.

File/Print: output skewed to left. Screenshot of settings with print preview attached.

File/Print/Save as PDF: output skewed to left.

Export to JPG (or PNG): this works fine! So my workaround for this deadline was to export my entire document to PNGs, open the files in Photoshop, and export a multipage PDF. But I would really like not to go through that again, especially for longer documents.

    Layout 2021 (21.1.331)

Mac OS Monterrey 12.1 (And although it's not relevant to this post, I'll add my voice to the chorus of Mac users begging for the Sketchup Default Tray option!)

    Any help greatly appreciated!

If all you are doing is rendering in Vector mode, yes, you still have the link between SketchUp and LayOut. If you then explode the SketchUp viewport, you only have Vector lines but no direct link to SketchUp.

I've already posted this wish in the wish list...

I know it has been on the wish-list since v.2, but I really miss this function.

    6.) Ruby API in Layout.
Back on September 2010 I saw Bjanzen posted this...

    @bjanzen said:

you could encourage us to do ruby API in LayOut, and that's probably how that and man other features will get implemented.

By that Mr. B was referring to page number and date.

I like the presentation Dave and potentially support the feature request provided it doen't make LO any messier to use. For me the manual version doesn't have the right R.O.I. to justify the effort. My priority in this area would be to sort out co-ordination of element styles (and layers) which are corrupted by copying the style of a different element e.g. if I sample a text style it will also modify the style for lines.
