yes, its almost unreal that a package like SU which might be one the widest used 3D modelers in architecure has no feedback channel for bugs or a steady bug fix time line. If I had a big firm I would not want to depend to much on SU. A hardware update or OS update could totally mess up your workflow if SU does not follow up on it swiftly. As of now I feel there are some guys at the back of a Google building doing SU on the side. All the spirit has gone out of the box that I felt with Censored to protect your privacy last at the wheel. The way Layout has been handled does not make me feel Google is on it.. well this is another thread I actually don't want to get into. The Mannequin is great of corse and I loved to to see it turn into wood. Also would like to see some other renderers do this model. I still feel Maxwell is the best. poster-frv

@jim smith said: thanks Mateo - I put them to good use to help dress up a so-so remodeling project. lol, you too? BTW, off the bat comment. Your choice of sky texture is awesome, only need to check the sun angles, this particular one isn't working well with the chosen sun angle.

Archi rag here are the details from the cath up news letter Every month we have a Prize draw for the CatchUp newsletter. Since this is the first issue of CatchUp we're keeping it simple. We want you to create a 3D model. However, the model needs to be top notch! There are some basic rules to keep in mind, but we don't want to bother you with a mile long rules document. Post it to the 'Materials / Components / Styles' forum. Before the subject put the word CatchUp. That way it will automatically be counted in for the CatchUp prize draw. Basically you can apply as many times as you like. So if you send in one model or one hundred doesn't matter. What matters is the quality and originality of the model. An independent jury will judge the models one by one and will pick out the best one. There is no theme necessary, meaning, you can model anything you like. It can be architecture, industrial design, game design or even Arnold Schwarzenegger as the next US President. It's up to you. Go for your best! The end date for this prize draw to send in your models is August 25, 2007. here is the link to the newsletter http://www.sketchucation.com/scf/catchup/2007/august/ mike d

Exceptional work, John. Truely exceptional. This proves what I tell so many people: when you work with SU you're actually working on your hobby. I know of very few other programs that are as powerful and veratile and fun and just plain addictive. Again, beautiful work, John.

before I think 6.0 there was no fonts or words modeled in SU... it was a smustard ruby I think... I bought a few of his fonts before the new release... I think that's what it is... a left over...

Kristoff: You must be in good athletic shape. I fear that I would keel over and drop dead before I reached the 50 yard line. Therefore, I will leave that chore to my beloved Philadelphia Eagles. E-A-G-L-E-S GO EAGLES!! (Sorry, I had to sneak that one in there. I'm getting primed for the new season.)

Thanks for the compliments. I rendered it in Kerkythea, but it doesn't look very real to me. I need to learn more about lighting. [image: dt_kt.jpg]
