Thanks a lot, that intersect with model didn't come to mind at all. Also, I was thinking about model directly with thickness but it is much easier to create the stripes flat first and then use push push/pull.

I can get you part way there perhaps. I'd start with some normal reflections and then use Filter -> Liquify for the warping. As for the lines, I'm not sure. If you have any sort of 3d model perhaps you could model the lines and create a sort of mask in PS. -Brodie

Polylines are NOT a SUp entity. You can 'Weld' some lines into curves and retry the export... BUT, if it's not a continuous 'curve' in the SKP it ain't going t become one in the DWG!

@alan fraser said: It is also possible to force movement along a particular axis by holding down the appropriate arrow key while moving. I was just thinking about searching for this little trick the other day, I remembered reading it somewhere, but couldn't remember how to do it! Thanks! Your tutorials are always so clear and helpful..really nice work!

Its pretty much about finding an image with the correct lighting for the snow. After that its a combination of cloning and distorting, copying parts around the image and blending them together. But if you dont have the correct lighting it will become very obvious very quickly. What you need to do is find images that have the same colour sky as the sky in the render. This way,not only will you have the correct lighting, but also the correct radiosity colour on your inserted elements.

@rock1 said: when will the training sessions start? will the users get pdf files [ebooks kinda] for lessons? What is the fees of these courses? Good questions. I need to advanced my skills faster than just the self teaching I've been doing and would sincerely like to be a student of this group, which I consider some of the best in the world. But of course, the devil is in the details.

why not just do 3dmax and Vray. rather than importing the max file to sketchup.

This really isn't a Sketchup tutorial per se but it is very relevant for Sketchup users who want to utilize the power of ZBrush to paint/texture their models. I used Sketchup Pro to export the OBJ file that was used in this demo -- but if you have another OBJ exporter plugin it should work just as well... and of course when you are done you can just import the OBJ back into Sketchup using one of the import plugins. I'd suggest you take a look at the TWR Forum, where you - among lots of other things - can find the Best Of Tips and Tricks - The Master List... If you're a licensed user you will also have access to many resources at the "Red Carpet Club"...
