Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Instead of post processing the rendering, just keep your camera level in SU. Without the camera tilted up or down verticals are vertical no mater how wide your shot it. Of course that doesn't mean you can still get away with 90-100deg shots without them looking odd. If you want to you can crop the top or bottom of the resulting image (as needed). This basically mimics what happens with a tilt shift lens, used in architectural photography for much the same reason. Trying to fit tight spaces onto a single photo without looking too awkward. Although sometimes the awkward look is nice. I completely different action is to create an interactive panoramic export of the entire field of view. There is a script to export six cube faces, there there is software on mac or PC to turn this into interactive file.

Grimjier, I wrote this part of the installer, so I can give you some assistance here. Google SketchUp Pro (7.0 and 7.1) require that you have the .NET Framework 2.0 (or newer) installed on your machine. The Free version of Google SketchUp does not have this requirement. The SU Pro installer is configured to check for the .NET Framework and download it if you do not already have it. This only affects Windows XP users because Vista comes with the necessary version already installed. If the installer is attempting to download .NET Framework, it is because the program we use to check for its presence, which is provided by Microsoft, says you don't have it. The download should normally be pretty fast, but in some cases, it may take a few hours to complete, or may just hang and never finish. Unfortunately, we use a Microsoft-provided mechanism for this entire operation, from checking for the product, to displaying the EULA, to downloading and installing it. Since it's not ours, there is nothing we can do to improve the reliability of the check, the robustness of the downloader, or the verbosity of the progress indicator. Believe me, I've tried. Thankfully, I believe there is a workaround. You just need to install the .NET Framework 2.0 or newer before running the SketchUp installer and all will be well. If you believe .NET 2.0 is already installed, then you would want to first uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs menu, and then reinstall it. I think the program that looks for .NET bases its discovery on certain registry keys. If for some reason the registry has become corrupted or the keys are absent, that could cause it to want to download, even though you installed it previously. The easiest and most highly recommended way to get .NET Framework 2.0 is via Windows Update. Optionally, you can either install .NET Framework 2.0, or something newer, like 3.5. If you have trouble with Windows Update, you can download the .NET Framework directly. Be aware that the download links are different for 32-bit vs. 64-bit versions of Windows XP. .NET Framework 2.0 32-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en .NET Framework 2.0 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B44A0000-ACF8-4FA1-AFFB-40E78D788B00&displaylang=en Good luck and please let me know if this works.

This is a known issue that we are planning on fixing in the next maintenance release. The issue will occur when adding text and dimensions at true intersections. The workarounds: Option 1) Draw two intersecting lines at the point of intersection, add the text and then delete the lines. Option 2) You can use LayOut's new dimensioning tool to create the needed dimensions. You should not get the odd behavior while in LayOut. Cheers, CMD

Remus, Ruby line you graciously wrote did not seem to work. Though I did say I am Ruby challenged, I pasted the code in the ruby console and hit enter, it appears as I believe it should without errors. Though I notice no change in the model scene transitions. It's ok, I'll just work it out with an AVI, or if with the client just use SU V6. EDIT: I can of course just use the shadow slider & or instruct the client to do the same. Thanks so much, Best, C

@gaieus said: When you save the component only from the model, right? Like right click > Save as...? True - I can see the same (never thought of this so far) but I think this is how it should work. By saving a component, you only save the component definition into a new file, i.e. what "defines" the component (everything but only that is inside). Imagine you have a bunch of instances of the same component - some are painted this or that way (from outside), some are scaled or flipped - which one would you "save as..." if you, for instance, do it from the component browser (where there is only one definition of them)? All in all, whatever we do with a component "from outside", is only part of the model it is used but not part of the component itself. I was afraid of this! I'm building furniture from melamine faced boards with banded edges and I wanted to make basic panels with default face material and default banding material which I can chance according to the progect. But CutList plugin gives a panel material based on the "from outside" material of the component. So I gonna deal with layers again.

Yeah, they don't have a centimetre template to begin with so I am already used to start with this every time I encounter a new SU version (BTW have you seen the new SU version? )

Yup - practically you can use a (single) license on any number of computers - just of course, not simultaneously. Network licenses are indeed "tricky" from this point of view (but I understand you use a single license anyway)

I cannot say for sure, but traditionally, colons and semicolons are not "legal" characters to use in file names. Anssi

I found a way - just open the component for editing and then draw the guides inside that component, close it and then paste
