Don't be too happy yet. This means that your graphic card does not support OpenGL and your machine will perform slower with bigger/more complex models. Hopefully a driver update can help but maybe you even need to get a better card eventually.

another couple of points 1 - in model info/components adjustments regards shading other components don't save and it reverts to the original position. I've tried everything to make it stay to where I want it set but no way. the tab in windows start bar doesn't show the current model - for example you open the program an it reads untitled. You then load a program called Model 1 and work on it yet the tab still reads untiled.

I have come to a method which works fairly effectively around the gaping holes (for me) in the native SUfree print-to-scale functions: Working method: zoom extents to page border (after creating same to match desired paper size at chosen scale) set printer as PDFCreator or similar; set paper size to arch E or other as appropriate to get it all on one page, in spite of SU perform print preview at desired scale; use draft quality for quick check proper paging if correct, repeat but set to HDR quality; print to (create) PDF trim white excess surround in result with PDFCropper or similar resulting PDF can be hard printed by Acrobat or other PDF program and is what SUfree should offer or clearly disclaim: print to scale on a chosen paper size

In fairness to Google SketchUp staff. I have to report that Vray v1.5.05.30 was the culprit. After I uninstalled it. I have had no more problems, with error messages, when SketchUp is closing.

Very easy and working solution. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7programs/thread/321fe20a-ecc6-469e-93a4-b640f39c05b5 I believe I've found a registry fix that may resolve your issue. Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk. Before you make changes to a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy, of the key or subkey. You can save the backup copy to a location you specify, such as a folder on your hard disk or a removable storage device. If you make changes that you want to undo, you can import the backup copy. 1.Open the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button , typing regedit into the search box, and then pressing Enter.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2.Locate and click the key or subkey that you want to back up (in this case HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control). 3.Click the File menu, and then click Export. 4.In the Save in box, select the location where you want to save the backup copy to, and then type a name for the backup file in the File name box. 5.Click Save. Once you've backed up your registry, you should see a key named RegistrySizeLimit. The default value is 5d00000. This needs to be changed to ffffffff. When you've made the change, reboot the system and try to install your software again.

Ok, first thing I'd do is do a clean install using 9.10 and start over. There were a LOT of improvements in 9.10 over 9.04 that solved SU compatibility issues... Including video driver updates, etc. Don't do an "upgrade" as it tends to leave some of the old libs and files around, messing things up. Ask me how I know... Your WINE is the latest I'm aware of. It "should" load the ia32 libs for you by default, but you can always check using Synaptic. You HAVE to have the ia32 libs because even though you're using WINE, it relies on some 32-bit libs to interact with the LINUX environment. About the only thing I've loaded as "extras" in WINE using winetricks were a few fonts and a couple of MS runtime libs. FWIW, I run Xubuntu 9.10 64-bit with an Intel driver, SU 7.1, Twilight Renderer and SketchyPhysics all under WINE 1.1.39 without any issues at all so I know you should be able to as well... Cheers.

Hi Joseph, I guess this is not SU specific but happens with some computers only. Maybe due to some firewall or security settings? I cannot troubleshoot it right now because it works perfectly on my PC (using SU 7.1 Pro as well) but I have read several reports on this and I know the development team is aware of the problem (I myself have reported it several times already).

Thanks for your replies The freeware Sketchup works fine, I don't have a problem with it at all. It is getting easier and easier to work with and I'm learning as well. Great program. And this guy on uTube monsterz3r0, deserves a medal. Really got me on the right path. But I export my drawings into Pepakura so I can make fabric patterns. I have tried wabe, but it didn't work well, but that was a year ago, so could perhaps give it ago again. Anyway, Pepakura doesn't like the upgrade at all to the latest version of sketchup and when I import a supported .kmz file into it. It really spits the dummy. Every face is duplicated, so you essentially end up with 2 of everything. Makes it very very hard to join pieces together. Pepakura is a bit of a skill anyway, as it does have a tendancy to fracture blocks of faces as well, but thats probably my drawing skills. I'm really just kicking myself, that for some insane reason, I didn't keep a previous version of sketchup on file - versions of both that are going to collaborate together. I guess Pepakura doesn't have the same kind of army working behind it that sketchup does and I will be waiting a while for catchup to occur on Pepakuras side. What I need is the initial skip to version 7, the most recent once certainly won't come to the party, and it does make life difficult that Google doesn't keep available previous versions should software hiccups occur. Which is kind of ironic, since it does boast supporting a couple of formats. But I forget, thems Google ones anyway. The good news is that drawing are progressing well, cept for the shoulder pads of the astronaut, but I will beat him into submission sooner or later . Well it won't be happening again. I sharnt be so trusting in the future. Cheers Jan

Nope. I usually turn it off since it greatly slows down my old PC. So I guess I'll just turn it on when exporting 2d images. Thanks for the suggestions! [image: xPVQ_brofist3536544.jpg]

Hi Ray, Does it do it in any model of yours? Like when you start a new one for instance? I am wondering if there is not a clipping plane somewhere. What is your FOV set to in that model? (Select the Zoom tol and press the shift button and start dragging it up and down on the screen with the left mouse button pressed). Also what if you toggle between perspective and parallel projections?

You are correct, the camera moves dramatically. However once you select a field of view you can always move the camera back to where you wanted it in the first place, but this is an irritating glitch.

@kiddieboy12 said: Life is all good!! install C++ redistribute 2005 sp1 and C++ redistribute 2008 SP1 and you should be able to install, please close. Hello. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner; things were very busy getting our last release out the door over the holidays. I am glad you found a solution to your problem. Installing the VS 2005 SP1 redistributable is what I would have suggested if I had been able to respond in time. The part I find curious is that you also installed the 2008 redistributable. SketchUp is built in Visual Studio 2005 and therefore, that's the version of the redistributable package you need to install. Did you install 2008 for fun, because you needed it for another application, or because you thought SketchUp needed it? I'd really like to know because I can't think of any circumstances under which you would have needed 2008 for SketchUp to function, so if you did, I need to investigate it more closely. Thanks, Andrew

When I look at Anssi's posted image, the component on the right is flipped, but the orientation of the section arrows aren't. Isn't this the indication of the reversed section's direction. Shouldn't the flipped component arrows point the other way. Btw, my ignorance is probably the result of not working with sections at all. Maybe I don't understand the question:-(

Hi Kriss, Is it not the same bug as here? http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23925 I could also reproduce it eventually but not with Paste in place.
